Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
well, we can have up to 27mill in space for everything, so that means we could possibly get two free agents (hall + decent OG/RT)...
then draft orakpo and OL with whatever we get for golston and hope for the best... |

Eh no biggie, I don't blame you though, sometimes these threads get too long....or people decide to post 500 word essays. LOL.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
Schneed, you need to take a break from this place. Otherwise you're going to end up siting in a rocking chair, covered in a blank, shivering and repeating over and over again "there's no salary cap next year, there's no salary cap next year." LOL.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
This year we cannot afford the cap hits that cutting old players would cost us. Nor do we have a new Coach/GM/Coaching Staff (well ours is a year old, but I think that makes a difference). Wait until next year, and we can start from scratch.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
Schneed -- I'm not ready to say a CBA won't be reached. Regardless of what you say, it would be bad business to give him that contract. What IF the CBA gets approved? You can speculate there won't be a cap, I understand the reasoning behind it -- but I'm just not as sure as you. Personally, I hope we have a cap. It's good for the game.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
could we structure a contract so that he makes like 6 million this year, 50 million next year, 6 million in 2011, 8 million in 2012...

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
Thats not even close to being true. it was an idle threat by the NFLPA but it has no basis in reality. If theres not a new CBA, the owners will lock out the players in 2011. So its in the interest of both sides to work out a new agreement. players would want a salary FLOOR and the owners would not agree to that without a salary cap. the cap would most certainly come back whenever a new CBA was negotiated.

There will probably be an uncapped year next year but I think a salary cap will be back at some point in the near future. I think it's in the best interest of the Owners, Players and Game if there is a salary cap. But thats just my opinion. |

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins
Get Haynesworth and draft for the O-line. If this scenario comes to pass, we just might be able to compete in the NFC East, barring the play of Jason Campbell, but that's a whole nother subject.
