Yeah, this.

But...vitriol and snobbery are how some people roll around here.

I haven't been around too long myself, but maybe it's for entertainment value since we don't have too much to talk about until training camp starts. I mean it's so ridiculous it made me laugh. I think he just wants attention. Maybe someone didn't hug him enough as a child.

I totally agree. I was more perturbed by his ass-hatedness about it when it was pointed out. If he said "Oh man sorry I didn't realize this wasn't the place for it" then I wouldn't have said anything. Plus I didn't see much vitriol. Dirtbag may have jumped a little too hard on him but I think I was pretty even handed. Just tried to explain the line of thinking. Then he started acting like an ass. That's on him.

I was actually just joking with him, I have friends that are in sales so I like to mess with them in a similar fashion from time to time. However I now understand how it can be seen as something a little more harsh, especially with text. Anyway whats done is done. The message has been sent, don't sell us anything until you've taken us to a strip club in downtown Tokyo and treated us to a few pints of sake. Kampai!

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson

They would be foolish not to trade Jackson. Maybe he has a chance of landing in DC who knows..?

Vincent Jackson "not a part of the plan" in San Diego

Posted by Mike Florio on August 12, 2010 6:52 PM ET
With any NFL team, it's hard to know where the B.S. stops and the truth begins. In San Diego, there's plenty of B.S. coming from the man known as A.J. But the Chargers' General Manager also appears ready to follow through on the protracted poker hand that he has been playing with left tackle Marcus McNeill and receiver Vincent Jackson.

As to Jackson specifically, it appears that the Chargers plan to squat on him indefinitely.

In a mailbag column for the San Diego Union-Tribune, Kevin Acee suggests that McNeill could eventually get a long term deal. Not so for Jackson.

"Vincent Jackson is not a part of the plan," Acee writes. " I don't see them using the franchise [tag] on Jackson either. Not now. This has gotten ugly."

With Jackson suspended for the first three games of the season and unlikely to show up and sign his dramatically reduced restricted free agency tender before that, the question becomes whether he'll sign at some point after the suspension ends and before Week 10, after which time he won't be able to play at all in 2010.

If he doesn't show up by Week 10, the Chargers will hold the same rights to him in 2011 that they held in 2010. Jackson's only path out of San Diego, short of a trade, lies in showing up by Week 10, earning a year of credit toward free agency, and then hoping to get out of town next year. (Since he's not under contract, Jackson can show up after August 10 and still earn a year of credit toward free agency.)

So while Acee thinks there's little chance of Jackson showing up for six weeks and making roughly $200,000, the fact that he'll be right back where he is right now if he doesn't show up by Week 10 makes it likely, in our view, that he'll come in by Week 10, get his year of credit, and hope to be able to get out come next year.

And if the Chargers truly aren't interested in signing Jackson to a long-term deal, why don't the Chargers trade him? For a team that has postseason aspirations and, presumably, a desire to win games once they get there (for a change), it makes sense to get something for him before he shows up in November, goes through the motions for six weeks, and then walks away.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson

I think there has always been a chance of him ending up here Skinsfan.

There is also a part of me that thinks he will end up somewhere where they have have an injury between now and week 6.

Smoot or anyone out there: Does his suspension begin in week 1 regardless of what he does or does it come when he is signed either with the Chargers or another NFL Team?

I assume it is the latter, once he is signed then he begins his suspension.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson

I know that Jackson has a lot of talent, but I don't understand why people want him here after bitching and whining about Haynesworth's "me first" attitude. I don't see San Diego trading him...or at least being in a hurry to to trade him.

Ruhskins it's because with VJ we could honestly contend for a SB run.. The guy is a great talent. Big , Fast and catches everything thrown at him. SD is just playing hardball because they are cheap asses.. Malcolm Floyd will never be Jackson, but they are acting like he could be. Let's face it our WR corp. isn't looking great right now.

I see your point. I just see San Diego having all the bargaining chips on any trade and they could make it very costly for any team to get Jackson. Now, I feel better with a guy like Bruce Allen in charge, as he has obviously done a good job with compensation in trades. But unless Jackson becomes a huge headache for San Diego, I don't see them trading him for cheap.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson

We have to stop being scared of breaking tradition. Just because our best 3 receivers are two tight ends and a receiver instead of two receivers and a tight end doesn't mean we can't be successful. I mean think about it, everyone is scared of Joey Galloway being the number 2 receiver when in reality he's looking at being the number 4 passing option. The Chargers last year had a Tight End as their number one receiver. And do I need to bring up the Dick Vermil lead Chiefs again and how their offense was structured.

Look at the facts.

- We have with the help of a miracle pretty much fixed the O-Line in one offseason.

- We have a brilliant offensive braintrust

- We have a franchise QB

- We have three legitimate passing options.

The only question mark is the running backs and I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about them.
