After the top 5, everything is a crap shoot. Maybe we get some draft gems out of this, maybe we are passing on some of 'em. Since I don't have a crystal balll to tell which is which, I'll take a trade down or two and increase the number of darts I throw.

we now have 11 picks including three in the first two rounds (and note, we didn't trade our early 2nd).

Good job FO!
I'm with you--people act like this is a precise science. You gotta maximize your number of picks, especially when you've got the holes we do.

Thumbs up Re: 2011 Draft Thread Rounds 2-3

I love all of these trade downs. LOVE THEM!!!!! We can bring in a lot of young players to compete. We need to have competition at a lot of positions. I am so happy right now, this is the exact opposite of the crap we have been pulling for the last 10 years or so that has got us nowhere fast. Love it, if i didnt already mention that. We will end up taking a young qb like Stanzi i bet. Take it, just no Mallet please. Too big and slow for what Shanny likes to do.

Skins apologist! get a life. this crew doesn't know what they are doing and that pick at 49, we would have gotten the last piece for our SB run!

The Lions are having a dope draft.......no more trading back Skins, lets make our picks....not tryna have 28 6 round draft picks. Lets start grabbing some of this talent before it really starts dwindling off....

Re: 2011 Draft Thread Rounds 2-3

They need to draft starter caliber prospects, not just camp scrubs. Why trade down for low round picks who will never see the field? That's what UDRFAs are for. Mallet's value is through the roof right now but, does he fit on a team that hasn't showed a willingness or ability to improve it's pass protection?

Well suppose a player we have high thoughts on falls to low 3rd, we possibly could trade the 4th back, and a fifth, not have lost anything and still gotten a player we value. Or like JR pointed out, the more darts you throw, the better shot at hitting (unless you cluster three WR/TEs late in the 2nd)
