Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)

I think that one question that hasn't been brought up yet in this thread is which prospects in the upcoming draft would actually be better options than Rex Grossman as rookies. I think a big part of the philosophy that the Redskins will compete in 2012 is that we'll draft a guy who sends Grossman to the bench and Beck to retirement, and then we'll improve by 3 or 4 wins based that alone. But if the people who can do that are limited to being Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley, it would seem unlikely that the Redskins would be able to significantly improve on Grossman next year. Unless of course they go the free agent route instead/in addition.

My point is another poster asked would the Eagles be looking for a QB. To me it's relevant. Is it not? I mean if they end up with a worse record then the Skins and pick prior to the Skins, then we fans should be taking that into account also in regards to whether we will even get the QB we would like the Skins to take. We certainly are taking the Colts and Luck into account, Miami into account, why are we not allowed to take the Eagles into account? |

Removing the offensive staff from Philly will set that team back for awhile and all but erase them from contention. But, I don't think Philly is that dumb. The perception is that Vick has regressed, but I don't think its evident with his play. I think the team around him is worse on the OL at WR and Vick is suffering as consequent. But, a metric I like to use for judging QB play is ESPN TQBR and they have Vick top 10 or near it and I think that is an accurate assessment of how he has played this season. |

This kid is smart, and looks like a very good QB. I'd be happy to see him drafted.

13 TD's this season v. 12 Incompletes. Don't know if that was current or sometime mid-season but it's freaking phenomenal. I would be VERY happy with this guy.

RG3 is probably my second choice after Luck. I think the kid has a very bright future in the NFL. And the 13 td's v. 12 incompletions thing was very early in the season, probably 3 games in I think, but either way it's very impressive.

But at the same time, the idea that Vick is a franchise QB ignores that he can't play more than 12 games a season because of his durability. And their backup situation was better last year. I think Kafka will be ready for an extended role next year, they still need to address the position.

Re: 2012 QB Prospects (Part 2)
You heard it here first; Nick Foles will be the next Joe Flacco.
Flacco at this time when he was coming out was viewed as a 3rd rounder before combine, etc. Foles is right now. Both have similar talents and questions. Just a hunch.
