So he wont "start" but will he play if Cousins wets the bed?

I would just rather see him deactivated....if there was any chance he could play then I would want him to start. If he isn't starting then don't even suit him up and (gulp) suit up the Rex Cannon in case he gets hurt.

Ok then.

Heard all the reports on RG III all week, but still figured he would end up playing.

Well here we go with the Kirk show. The guy should have success in our offense since it is built for rookie. We will also see how good our line is with a guy less mobile than RG. The browns DLine will be a tough test for this group.

Hopefully Kyle is smart enough to game-plan around Cousins as well. We all know our drop-back pass blocking isn't perfect, so hopefully a lot of bootlegs and moving pockets. Cousins isn't RG3, but he's also not Flacco back there athletically.

From what I understand, RG didn't take any snaps with the first team this week. So...

I realize this falls into the category of crazy conspiracy theory, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a head fake by Shanahan. They "leak" the info then make the announcement, could they have a last minute change of heart when the game time decision comes?

Was wondering the same thing. If that's the case, it would be pretty crazy. I think I'm holding out that false hope, but more just praying that Cousins is ready.

Just as importantly, who do you start? RG3, Cousins, or Roethlisberger?

I bet we will still run some pistol formation and passing out of it. Other than the option plays nothing will be much different IMO. Griffin passes from the pocket WAY more than people think.

I'm 100% sure we will still run the same exact offense. Cousins is pretty quick. He's no RG3, but he can still run the same offense that RG3 was running. Morris gets his best runs from the pistol, and it would be foolish not to run it.

Of course against a lot of the defenses similar to the Browns we run that "quick pitch" in to the backfield that allows Morris to pick his own seam. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of it tomorrow.

The pistol only works so well because of rg3. With Cousins, it is probably no more effective running out of that formation than any other.

Why is that? Because RG3 can run faster the Cousins? You do realize that there are more threats from that formation..

Most of the big pass plays from that formation come because Morris eats chunks from the defense and the LB's bite up. It'll work just as good with Cousins. Who is still pretty damn quick.

I figured our pistol scheme was rg3 exclusive. I just don't see any qb on our roster but him being effective in that formation. I expect a lot of screens and short passes, but no pistol.

Maybe you're right, and they've put that in the gameplan. I just think the D will get to kc too fast in the pistol. Cousins might be quick enough to pull it off, but I suspect rg3 is making it look much much easier than it actually is.

Despite their middle of the pack rush D, I don't know if Morris will be gashing them like our other opponents b/c the de's/lb's aren't going to respect kc like they respect rg3... Still hope he has a big day though, we need him. I actually think Cousins will show his leadership and have a big game throwing it, but not because LB's are biting on the zone read.
