He had last season to develop as a pocket passer,i no it doesn't happen overnight but he has shown no improvement whatsoever On top of that his decision-making sucks, he doesn't have the speed anymore when he runs outside the pocket and takes the sack running out of bounds when he should be throwing it away His best pass of the night was out of the read option when he faked the handoff and do it straight down the middle, and that seems to be the only pass he can complete over 10 yards in the air besides the long bomb, he doesn't have to think about anything on that play and is very decisive I really want him to succeed but in my heart I think he is going to turn out to be another Vince Young

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread
my concerns after last night:
some of the injuries. i hope they're not significant, though I haven't seen any news on them (haven't looked much) the o line didn't win one on one match ups the way i would have liked to have seen. it's just preseason with vanilla offense, so i don't want to get carried away with that. liking the younger guys. liking that they're all going to be backups. this is how you build a team. it doesn't mean you automatically get a ring, but drafting this way and having young guys that seem to have potential sitting on the roster to grow/mature as nfl players gives you the best chance. |

Obviously not that big of a deal but that will keep him off the field for a while and I was hoping he would get a first string promotion before mid season.

Joe Theismann says Kirk Cousins has been better at QB than Robert Griffin III - ESPN
Man, the one time Theismann isn't praising every Redskins player on earth and he's gotta call out RG3? Kinda wish Theismann would retire already, never been a fan of his. |

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread
Theismann has been to the training camp practices and has called the games. I think he's just backing up what the Patriots coaches and the beat reporter said. Are they all wrong on this?

But i think the local media (and even the national media) and fans thinking that their comments translate directly into letting Cousins start over Griffin or otherwise giving up on Griffin is what's wrong. I've yet to see any evidence to think, and I've yet to hear anyone with any real credibility state, that Griffin cannot become the elite quarterback we all want. But there's lots of people implying, some outright stating, that Griffin's already a bust and Cousins should be the go to guy. Which seems quite silly at this point. |

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread
RGIII critics:
RGIII is probably going to be our starting QB for a long time so you might as well come to grips with the idea of taking the bad with the good. Besides, there is no rule that says we can't win with RGIII as he continues to develop. I'm not entirely sure that the rest of this team is good enough to win now, anyway. I'm thinking we need one more year to develop some of our young players and to shore up weak positions with another infusion of talent before we become contenders. If we should be lucky enough to win this season, it will be because a small group of playmakers, including Robert, carry us.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread
When the season starts he wont stand in that pocket while it collapses like an idiot. He Wont stand there and throw the ball up for luck like Andrew Luck. By the way Lick has looked horrible this pre season. It's preseason. I can tell Robert and Jay were testing the o-line. Notice how no NFL teams want Cousins, not even Kyle.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread
I think he's mentally out of synch. Confidence is everything (look at Shaub), and those split seconds of indecision are everything. His stutter step hesitation to Morris caused the interception.
I'd say we have the pieces now to compete, we may have a good enough defense to take us into the playoffs if our offense showed up.. Come on, if RG3 could just get the ball to ANYONE (morris, jackson, garcon, roberts, reed) -- we'd be fine. But he's running it out of bounds for losses (!!) and telegraphing passes. Personally I think he runs it out of bounds instead of throwing it away so his completion percentage doesn't suffer, which is sad. I'm just hoping (1) O-line gets better as they play together enough (including M.Moses playing well enough to come in mid-season to solidify the right, (2) RG3 starts to be confident again & not lose games for us. But.. it's only preseason. Let's see what happens. |
