Gruden gave up to fast 2nd game dislocated ankle never backed him. F Gruden IMO. I'm a REDSKIN fan firstvbut this I don't like.
Gruden has lacked the leadership thus far to keep his group focused and playing at a high level. A good comparison right now is Pettine in Cleveland, first year coach who's QB is playing like shit, but that group comes out swinging every week. Gruden looks like the worst HC hire for 2014 at this point, maybe Smith is worse but his team just kicked our ass lol, but then for all we know Gruden was the only candidate who would come to DC.

And that makes the rest of our season pins and needles. If Gruden burns through the last QB on the roster (supposedly his handpicked guy) without significant improvement it's hard make a wise case to bring him back next year, but what if nobody decent wants the job??

USC QB Kessler looks good if around in 3rd round might be worth a shot taking... after taking a safety and an offensive lineman

Stop defending RG3.....he has looked good at any point this season. His struggles began in training camp and preseason.....Gruden wants his version of the west coast offense run correctly RG3 failed big time to do that.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

One problem that all teams are facing now is that they can no longer control the public image of their team. Social networking by players and others, too many interviews mandated by the NFL as part of TV deals, and the need for reporters to get the "news" first, virtually immediately and without fact-checking, is creating a vortex of contradictory messages that are confusing to fans.

In the past, a coach would say something like "We haven't been winning with Robert, so we're going with Colt this week". End of story. The fans could then speculate all they wanted but that one statement is just about all that would be coming out of Redskins Park. The Information Age has changed all that.

From now on, I'm going just to take the change at face value and not get caught up in the politics of the situation. If we win more games with Colt at QB, the problem is solved in the short term. If we don't win with Colt at QB, then it's next man up. I just want to win and I don't care who is at QB as long as we're winning.

Colt sacked 5 or 6 times - O-Line issue.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

The O line does indeed suck..and the missed blocks by the RB's just adds fuel to the fire. It really is a total team melt down at this point..Things don't look to good for next year either..what will be different? a few botched draft picks won't right this ship..after pulling for this team for over 40 nears i'm close to giving up on this mess..

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

first get some good scouts

Then trade down, and horde draft picks like New England does

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

I just noticed that Colt McCoy is 2nd to only the great Aaron Rodgers in QB Rating, with players having at least 75 throws.

#1- Rodgers: 118.6
#2- McCoy: 113.5

Some notables behind McCoy are....

Peyton Manning (108), Tony Romo (106), Andrew Luck (103), Drew Bees (102)

(maybe you've heard of them!)

I was really surprised

And for completeness,
Cousins (86.4%) and Griffin (85.7%) were both well down the list.

I was not as surprised by that

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

So what if Colt pulls out 4 wins so we finish 7-9? Not likely i know, but would there be any question that the 6 wins attributed to him the season would make him next year's presumptive starter? Would that seal RGIII's fate with the Redskins?

Hell yes it would make McCoy the starter deservedly so. RG is already good as gone tho.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...

I am starting to think that this team plans on Starting Colt the rest of this year and potentially next year and training Kirk and then having him as the long term future, we will get whatever we can for RG3 and that looks to be a 3rd at best. I am perfectly happy with that plan and is we get really lucky and Colt is a late bloomer then so be it.

So we are willing to hitch our wagon to a potential late blooming Colt but give up on a possible late blooming RGIII; who by the way has more talent in his pinkie then all of Colt's talent combined.

Might as well at least hang onto RGIII next year; he is under contract, cheap and has the potential to be a super star. Plus they way this team drafts; extra draft picks are never a sure thing.

Problem is they would have to decide in May if they wanted to keep him that 5th year.
