As far as picking players, they were saying that will be in large part Mike Shanahan's job. That concerns me a bit. He wasn't a great personnel guy in Denver by any means. Shanahan will also likely be team president. I guess I'm worried about how expansive his role will be. I'm much rather he just coach, but then again if that's all we wanted from him we probably couldn't get him.
Allen will have two main focuses. First get rid of all the dead weight on the team. Then he will make sure the coach gets what they need, which is not always the same thing as what they want. Gruden has talked about this before. How he and Allen would go back and forth a lot because Allen was determined to make sure Gruden had the right players he needed, but not always what he wanted.

I'd also prefer that Shanahan just coach, but as you say it's not possible to just get him as head coach. I'm curious to see what happens with the staff below Allen.

I hope your right. We have a lot of talent in that secondary and they have looked pathetic recently.

I am convinced that almost all of our secondary problems are coaching. Landry needs fundamental retraining. He is missing tackles by two yards.

Nobody is going to come in with 2 games left. Trying to make a transition right now would be a total cluster F.

Right now, we've got picks in rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 in the 2010 draft. Compensatory picks aside, I wonder what we'll have on draft day. Some guys will be cut outright, but I also think we'll see some "surprising" trades (and i'm not just talking about Cooley or Davis).

Danny Smith isn't the only guy picking who returns punts.. and he's saved Zorn's ass a few times this year with game/clock management.

I'd keep him, Olivadaotti (guy has been around through several coaches so he's probably pretty decent), maybe Gray, and Wachenheim.

The difference? Not trying to make somebody come in and actually have to show effort in 2 meaningless games. Way to totally stick the new guy with a huge task. Let what's here finish out and then get a guy in ASAP.

It would be a cluster F on top of a cluster F.

We've got enough drama.

That's what I saw last night before I turned the game off early in third quarter. Hey, I really don't give a damn though? Someone let me know when the Redskins are a real football team again.

Portis spoke today about Shanahan

The ink is all but dry on Shanahan by the way, barring a drastic last minute change, he will be our next head coach

I personally think Portis is full of s**t. I look at it as him kissing up to Shanahan. If CP stays he'll probably practice like he should have been the entire time he's been here. Then he'll have a good year and it'll look like it's Zorns fault for not using him like he should have, or he'll blame the line we had this year instead of taking any responsibility as usual. I understand I'm pissed after the game, but I've been tired of his BS for a long time.

That makes me pretty happy.

I wouldn't have been surprised to see Shanny run the opposite direction after that shit show last night.

that's absolutely great news. thanks for updating us.

So when you say the ink is all but dry, does that mean he has actually signed some sort of secret paperwork, or have he and "SnydAll" simply reached an agreement in principle?

I doubt the former is true, so if the later, do you have any idea what the terms of the contral will be (i.e. years/dollars/control/title(s), etc.)?

If the former is true, then have the skins somehow found a way to satisfy the rooney rule even though there is no head coaching vacancy at present?
