Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
QB play is clearly an area we have lacked for a long time. The other part of the McNabb trade was the releasing of JC. I was one who rather would have kept JC, but clearly his play since being released, including his time in Oakland, showed keeping him would have done nothing more than McNabb/Grossman and the upside potential of McNabb and Grossman were better at the time. So, while I don't think Shanahan gets kudos for handling the JC/McNabb situation, ultimately we came out ahead, and I don't think it set the team back any in its development.

Look at the way things are shaping up in the division. The Eagles are in full rebuild mode, the Cowboys are stumbling and bumbling around as usual, Romo is nearing the end of his contract there, and the Giants lost a lot of their luster this year and showed that you can't just expect to turn it on at the end of every season. Meanwhile the Skins are stocked with young talent are only trending upward. |

Build through the draft, what a concept right?
East Division Champs after the 3rd year? NO question the plan has worked. HTTR

And do your homework well when acquiring FAs (Cofield, Carriker, Garcon, Morgan)

Look to the Eagles on what not to do...Reid was crazy and spent oodles for over priced free agents and look where they are now. Glad we dont do that ish anymore.

Well we still spend a lot on free agents and probably always will. |

Under Allen the contracts have been much more in line with what the market pays. |

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
Kinda felt like Reid and the Eagles got desperate the last couple of years. I guess he saw his window to win it all coming to a close so he gambled on some big free agents and lost. His drafts lately were also lacking.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
Started to build his team like Washington Redskins of old by just signing and trading for big free agents instead of building his team through the draft and a few key moves. It is what happens when teams get desperate.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?
I think the Eagles are actually in pretty good shape as far as having draft picks and even cap room moving forward, particularly when they move Vick.
I don't think their turnaround time will be too long I'm curious what Reid's legacy will be. Like if I were an Eagles fan, would I look back on these past 14 years and say "We really had one of the better franchises for nearly a decade and a half" or would I say "Reid stayed too long and for what? No rings. Had we made a change a few years back maybe we'd have at least one ring"

Depending on who their next coach is, I think in time they may look back and have a different view on Reid. Or at least they should... he had a lot of success there. Granted they didn't win it all, but still. Let's see them go through 20 years of mediocrity like we have post Gibbs 1.0 and see how they feel. |

I've got lots of family who are Eagles fans who have been calling for the end of Reid for at least 5 years. Those type of fans are in the second line of your thought but I think in a couple of years they will yearn for the consistency of winning 9-12 games per season of most of the Reid era.
