I was thinking the same thing until I saw this. Just when everybody seems to forget, someone's gotta remind them. I also liked how he pretty much laid out the plan that probably has the best chance of getting the name changed.

Re: Around the League: Week 2

That was my first thought when Radisson pulled their money. If the people who want our name changed really want that to happen they need to bring it home to Fedex and Bon Secours among others. I actually think both those corporations would be sensitive to that type action. It would be interesting to see if they try that

Fame , take the Duke Lacrosse team ,hell even the teachers came out and ask for them to all be dismissed !

Really good read .

47 players have been convicted of assault charges against women since Goodell came into power.

None have them prior to Rice resulted in more than a 1 game suspension.

Yeah.

Is Goodell in the Witness Protection Program? That man has been hiding under his desk since that horrible interview.

Hey, I'm with you. I've been railing against the dangers of the Court of Public Opinion and the type of people that push this stuff, the ways they do it, etc.

I was attacked for comparing the redskins name controversy to beating women and children. LOL.

It's not popular to point that stuff out... People don't like it. Due process is only supported when you're the one being accused of things.

Look at the number of cases of convicted (CONVICTED) women abusers since Goodell took over. **NOW** it's an issue?

Yes, it's a complete lack of decency on the NFL's part. Partly due to incompetence, partly due to greed, and I imagine partly do to just not caring.

But there's a ridiculous amount of hypocrisy in this story among the general public. It took a video of Rice actually striking her for this to reach this level - why? This has been a problem in this league for DECADES - now all the sudden the righteous are up in arms?

It's laughable.

Yeah.
Was there tape? I have been saying this is the only difference. The first tape was the only reason Rice got 2 games.

And the pictures are the only reason Peterson is on the "exempt list", whatever the heck that is.

I wonder what their "stance" will be when another player gets drunk on their product and kills someone. Like the Cowboy player who is coming back this season after a 10 game suspension.

That's my whole point...

people needed a tape to think it's wrong for the NFL to allow players that beat women in their league making millions.

You need a tape to understand what it means for a man to knock a woman out to get angry about it? (general "You", not you specifically )

Pathetic.

NFL team owners and Roger Goodell failing to be leaders in tough times | The MMQB with Peter King

Mark Cuban was scoffed and sneered at for warning the NFL about the perils of arrogance. His words now look prophetic as the mighty league has been made vulnerable by player misdeeds and the failures of leadership

Also, can't help but laugh at Anheuser Busch's moral high horse.

Do they realize most people consider their product that they make to be among the most damaging out there for society?

pacman jones punched a woman in her face last year on video and all he got were a bunch of guys commenting on the internet how he was just defending himself bc she initiated contact by putting a pint glass to his face ....... after he got into a verbal argument with a group of ladies who didnt know who he was and didnt want to talk to him .. after one of his buddies tries to pull him away and tell him to leave .. he decides to walk back to where the girls were and lean over the rail to continue to exchange pleasantries.

giantone - i think any NFL punishment should wait until the court proceedings are concluded but i do think the NFL should reserve the ability to discipline a player immediately if substantial evidence of guilt is available from the beginning with the option to reduce, modify or increase punishment if and when the criminal proceeding is concluded or new evidence becomes known (exculpatory or inculpatory)
