We'll see...I think the jury is still out on this. If things go really well the next few months, they may not feel the need to bring in a general manager. It's not like they would be setting a new precedent.

My preference is Kyle be promoted to GM and they fill someone so he oversees college and pro scouting departments.

Be surprised if they promote Smith twice in one off-season? But it is possible.

Isn't his new position VP of player personnel? I thought that's what his new position is.

I think they should just bring in a guy to replace LaFemina but otherwise whoever's running business ops won't have anything to do with football ops.

Don't get hung up on titles. Smith is running personnel. Rivera is calling all the shots. Any type of GM he brings in would just be someone for them to collaborate with and to be an administrator type that handles day to day business as BHA was saying.

Bruce Allen is gone and that's all I really care about. How they set things up from here, I don't really care. Kyle seems like he is well respected plus RR worked under his dad so there's a connection there. If they bring in Brown after the draft then great. If not then that is fine too. As long as Allen is gone then it's all good with me. Hope you enjoy retirement Bruce. Or.. maybe you can start doing radio like Vinny.

Seriously the d bag is out and it actually seems like adults with knowledge of the game are being put in place. We will see if Snyder can sit back and not let his ego get in the way again. In the meantime Call them whatever you want.

I'll never trust Snyder. The only coach he didn't undermine is Gibbs.

This. I really like Doug Williams moving out of his role tho and Kyle Smith promoted.

But, the Front office is facing a lot of moving parts this offseason, its gonna be the most exciting and interesting offseason in years. And they really need to make the right moves in building around a young QB, its an art and a science. I will crush them if they fuck it up.

Well it depends on how quickly they start winning more than losing. If the fans come back, and we start truly competing Im not sure what his motive would be to tinker. He seems for the immediate past to be letting RR take over in every way.

They are facing moving parts but I feel like in a good way. I want to see Kyle Smith head up our free agency. I want to see how they attack free agency this year. Hopefully they don't do anymore dumb shit signings like they have with Collins and Richardson.

I agree...I think the coaching staff coming together has been really good moves.

I brought it up previously, but opportunities abound with personnel:

1. Nice assortment of draft picks, 2nd overall
2. Opportunities to get out of dumb, overpaid veterans with limited cap penalties
3. Extension opportunities with young players
4. Nice assortment of free agents at positions of need: CB, Tight End
5. A good amount of cap space

Anyone know if Morocco Brown and Kyle Smith overlapped when Morocco was with the team?

Yes, they worked together. Kyle is on his 11th year, Morocco left in 2014. However, JP Finlay said keep an eye on Joe Schoen from Buffalo via Carolina. All this could go out the door if Kyle is promoted to GM after the draft. Lots of rumors.

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes

BHA you make very good points about how some of the day to day gets executed.

We currently know that Kyle will oversee all scouting, both professional and college scouting. We know he will create the draft board.

We know Rob Rodgers will handle contract negotiations.

We don’t know who will negotiate trades, make waiver wire adds, etc. It could be that Rivera asks for Kyle to present him with a list of possibles and Rivera makes the decision. As to who is actually processing the paperwork, that seems more administrative. Anybody could do it. You could have a low level administrator executing Rivera’s wishes, and that admin could report in to Kyle or Rivera himself.

To me the only major function that hasn’t been assigned yet is the non-football operations boss. I think Rivera and Smith function as the chief decision makers with all authority sitting with Rivera. Who runs the business side still seems up in the air.
