Vikings | T. Williamson impressing Childress
Thu, 30 Mar 2006 05:45:53 -0800

Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress has been impressed by WR Troy Williamson during early offseason workouts. "He catches it better than I thought," Childress said. "Does he need release skills at the line of scrimmage? Yes, he does. But he is pretty young, and he was inactive a lot last year. I expect him to make a big jump from Year 1 to Year 2."

Bengals | Team reaches agreement in principle with S. Adams
Thu, 30 Mar 2006 18:09:04 -0800

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Cincinnati Bengals have reached an agreement in principle with free agent DT Sam Adams (Bills) on an undisclosed contract. Financial details of the contract were not yet available, but sources said Adams can make about $4 million in 2006 if he reaches certain playing time and performance levels. The deal will likely not be signed until the weekend. There are still some details to be completed and it is believed the Bengals want Adams to take a physical exam before the deal is officially executed.

Bills | Moulds still with the Bills
Thu, 30 Mar 2006 17:32:34 -0800

WGR550.com reports agent Harry Henderson said reports of Buffalo Bills WR Eric Moulds reaching a contract agreement with the Houston Texans are false. WGR also talked with the Bills, and Scott Berchtold, the club's vice president of communications, said reports of a trade between the Bills and Texans are also false.

Panthers | Fox discusses reason for re-signing Foster
Thu, 30 Mar 2006 18:35:38 -0800

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said the team re-signed RB DeShaun Foster because it would save the team some salary cap space over Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander and Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James. Fox said, "Going into free agency, we had to choose (from) Shaun Alexander, Edgerrin James and DeShaun Foster. After evaluating those three, we went with DeShaun Foster. That's what was best for us. If we didn't sign him, somebody else would have and it would have taken a little extra room off the cap to go sign one of those two other guys. Both those guys are older than DeShaun. Injuries are always a concern with all players. But we think, when he's healthy, he's a young top-of-the-line back."

speechless... foster is alway hurt and not as good when healthy anyways. He just decided he wanted to go cheap (alexander and edge wouldn't be worth the cost though).

Don't worry everyone when (not if) Foster goes down. They can just throw to Keyshawn.

Lions | Police and courts: D. Wilkinson
Thu, 30 Mar 2006 19:34:24 -0800

The Gazette reports a lawsuit accusing Detroit Lions DT Dan Wilkinson of misleading a developer during a failed business venture three years ago will go to trial, a federal judge in Maryland ruled Monday, March 27. A judge refused to throw out the charges against Wilkinson, which are outlined in a civil lawsuit filed more than two years ago by Capital Centre LLC. The suit alleges that Wilkinson deceived Capital Centre and is personally liable for breaching a lease to build a restaurant at the Boulevard at the Capital Centre, a 55-acre retail complex in Largo, Maryland. The suit seeks $31.5 million in damages. A publicist for the Lions said Wilkinson was training on his own and was unavailable. At issue in the case is whether Wilkinson is personally liable for any damages suffered by Capital Centre as a result of defaulting on the lease.

that's a lot of cash, even for a NFL guy.

Vikings | Team will not match Burleson's offer sheet
Fri, 31 Mar 2006 16:59:02 -0800

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings decided not to match the Seattle Seahawks multi-year contract offer to WR Nate Burleson, Minnesota vice president Rob Brzezinski said Friday, March 31. The Vikings will receive a third-round pick from Seattle in next month's NFL Draft as compensation.

Its official. posion pills will be dead next year, its good they got their use out of it while they could.

Vikings | Brzezinski calls Seattle offer sheet a sham
Fri, 31 Mar 2006 21:14:12 -0800

Jeff Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski called the Seattle Seahawks offer sheet that was accepted by WR Nate Burleson and not matched by the Vikings a sham. "There is a vast difference between our deal and Burleson's," said Brzezinski. "The Hutchinson (OG Steve Hutchinson) deal is of legitimate benefit to the player. He has a contract with us where it could vest; the Seattle deal is a total sham, and the trigger is a sham." The Vikings considered challenging the Seahawks offer due to the poison pills contained in it, but they decided not to. While Hutchinson's deal will guarantee him $16 million, Burleson is assured $5.25 million. In reality, his contract will be worth $14.5 million over four years. Brzezinski said the Vikings offered Burleson more money than what Seattle gave him, but it was clear Burleson wanted to play in Seattle.

Jaguars | Team still in the mix for Arrington
Fri, 31 Mar 2006 21:48:21 -0800

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars are one of four teams that remain interested in free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins). He likely will end up with the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Jaguars or Cincinnati Bengals, agent Carl Poston said. A deal could be a while, or it could come soon. "That's just the way this business goes," Poston said. "You never know when something will get done."

49ers | A. Bryant doing well so far
Sat, 1 Apr 2006 16:31:55 -0800

Charean Williams, of the Star-Telegram, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Antonio Bryant has been on his best behavior since signing with team earlier this offseason. By default, Bryant has become the team's No. 1 receiver. He is participating in the 49ers' off-season program, head coach Mike Nolan said. "I can get criticized for Antonio Bryant, because he has some issues," Nolan said, referring to Bryant throwing his jersey in the face of Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. "But I think we have the environment to handle that. Even if it isn't his maturity coming along, we've got the things around him to make it right. I don't think it's his character as much as he's a volatile personality guy."

someone should really tell this guy that honesty ISN'T in his job description, and insulting your current players is generally considered bad form.

Re: Official NFL Free Agent Signings Thread

They made a great move by signing him. It is easy to win an argument which says that Bryant is better than both of the Redskins signings.

Re: Official NFL Free Agent Signings Thread

This thread is way to big....it would be cool if we could start the official thread number two, and that way its easier to read. Maybe make it "Official NFL Free Agents Signings Thread Part Two (4/1/06- )".
