QB's looked very crisp. Impressive showing by some rookies: Horton best of all, but Davis I thought looked good too. Very few penalties and excellent organization, which indicates good coaching.

My only concerns (things that could be issues beyond preseason IMO) are:

1) Jansen still looks slow - gave up a sack just in the short time he was on the field. Personally I think this is a huge concern. Film from last year shows he was constantly a step behind and getting beat and obviously after the terrible injury he's probably more arthritic.

Which leads to 2nd concern...

2) Depth at o-line still seems to be a huge issue. Fabini should just become a full-time truck driver, football ain't his gig. Wade is too injury prone and mostly ineffective. Heyer still gets manhandled by veteran d-ends and it looks like he's still covered in baby-fat. Chad looks like the only legitimate backup right now IMO - fortunately he can play guard or tackle - I guarantee he plays quite a bit this year.

The Backup O-line is definitely a concern for me as well.
Jon Jansen was shaky. Heyer was up and down, mostly down. I expected more from Fabini and Wade but they were very dissappointing. Justin Geisinger looked pretty bad at center. Chad Rinehart looks like he is going to be legit though.

Excellent point....remember last year at this time prior to us discovering how crappy Wade was....Wade failed as a guard which made us trade draft picks for a geizer....

Then we discover jansen lost a step....and many of us were thinking Wade was the answer to replace a declining jansen. Then he got injured.
How soon we forget how lame jansen looked last year at this time.

It is unfortunate that he gave up some pass rush move...but Wade is no better, and neither is Heyer. Jansen does work well within the unit and is a good run blocker, but he clearly is declining in pass protection

Not really concerned about Doughty yet. He will need to be effective against the run and slant routes when dirty 30 hits the field. Doughty lays the wood when he gets the chance and I think his angles and vision will improve through preseason.

Not to mention Clark is one of the best in the game.

Really good game. Nice to see the first line look so sharp. Quite a few surprises in the mix also.

Great game by Colt and Campbell. Horton seemed pretty impressive also as with the starting o-line. But I feel like on D we have our linebackers so far back. I think that's one of the reasons they got so many yards on us through the ground game. But overall it was an exciting game and i'm glad to see the Skins back on the field.

Lets look at this game objectively.
We are supposed to analyse a few things....
New coach....A+....enough said.
Jason Campbell and offenses ability to pick up new system....A+...again...enough said.
Determine our success with our 10 draft pick...
Well...only Horton and Brennan did well....
Doesn't look that great.
Perhaps Rhinehart did ok....and maybe Brooks..but Tryon flat out sucked and the rest were marginal if nothing.
We really need to see our WR's in future games otherwise, our rookies didn't do that great..but thats not suprising....lets give them 2 more game to see how many pick we keep

Brooks was good IMO as far as the young CB Tryon he is a risk-taker he has the ability to be a solid corner but he gambles too much over pursuits and let the offense make plays I hope he will get it together next week.

Schweigert did stink it up, but it was the first preseason game. i think a few rookies showed and proved that they are ready to be pros. I thought that Brennan, Horton, Jackson, Rinehart, Brooks and Davis did well. Tryon was ok. The RB's looked great. The LB's looked confused; don't think Sinclair was comfortable at MLB.

Lets not get too carried away.
The Skins started training camp almost a week before the Colts.

I was impressed with Horton. He showed alot of discipline on the onside kick. But again, Lets not get carried away, He was completely unblocked on his two sacks and the QB never saw him.

Colt looked great. Nothing bad to say, Hopefully we can see him with the first stringers.

The O-Line looked good too! Good lanes for the RBs and plenty of time for the QBs. I'm a little concerned about Jansen, he looked slow.


Brooks looked good out there. I liked the back spin he had on his punt that landed inside the 10 yard line.

I'm little disappointed with Tryon. He showed not ball skills on the deep pass completed on him.

Doughty was horrible. Dallas Clark is a good player but he isn't that good. Doughty was exploited today. Shweigart also had his problems.
We have no depth at safety, we cannot afford to have any injuries in our secondary.
