I think Trestman is one of the better offensive minds pro football has seen in the last three decades. It's a shame he's never got his opportunity to be a HC. I'm rooting for him big time.

Kelly to the Eagles is interesting.. Should be interesting to see how his tempo plays at the NFL level. Also I'm a bit wary of the flip-flop nature of his last 3 weeks. Pettrino 2.0?

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

I think ultimately he was just trying to get more $ from the Eagles.

He flirted with the NFL to get more money from Oregon. Oregon gave him more money to stay, and then he used that to go back to the NFL to get even more $. Pretty douche-baggy, but very business savvy.

Being prob the most sought after coach gives you that luxury. Don't see any douchebaggery in that.

Just because you have luxury to do something, doesn't mean it's the best "moral" choice. It was a wise strategic move, but "inconsiderate" to the eagles and ducks. That was my only point.

All parties act the same so I don't blame him. If the Ducks decided to can him they would whenever they wanted and why would I care about the Eagles.

Yeah, from a business standpoint, he played it perfectly. I am just more of a "let your yes mean yes and your no mean no" type person. i dont think i'd feel right doing what he did - but of course, I don't have the talents to ever be in that situation so who knows what i'd do lol.

The Eagles have some speed but for some reason visions of Steve Spurrier keep popping up in my mind.

Yup. I was thinking the same thing. Unlike Petrino and Saban, the guy has zero NFL coaching experience. Not that this dooms him but, IMHO, it makes him less likely to succeed - it certainly makes the task of adapting harder for him.

I, for one, am VERY glad the Eagles went C. Kelly and the Bears M. Trestman rather than the other way around. I think, given his history and the glowing reports most insiders (including ex-coaches) give him, Trestman is going to be a very good hire.
