wasn't Keith Olberman one of the first there to really start the political agenda crap? I could never stand him...just give me the sports & hold the political drama queen stuff.

Yup but to me ESPN started to go down hill after being bought by ABC/Disney....they started restaurants and stuff. They forgot why they were here.

Ouch. Lol. Pretty general statement about sports writers. I agree about ESPN getting stale, but some sports writers are top notch journalists and some are not. Same could be said for any sort of journalist or any job for that matter.
I think the real downfall for espn is simply that I do not really need to tune into sports center anymore to find out what is going on. My phone blows up every time an athlete as much as passes gas. Satellite radio, Twitter, etc etc. When I was young I used to looooove the George Michael Sports Machine. Than Sports Center was like Disneyland for sports. Now it is just old news by the time u tune in. Oh well. Video killed the radio star and now technology killed video.

Agreed, but it was really their only choice to try and remain relevant because insta-news on our phones, satellite radios, etc was going to make sports news on television dead anyway.

You are right, there are some really good sports writers, but they are in their 50s and write for newspapers. NFL.com writers are morons. ESPN writers are a bit better, but it is a joke the NFL guys get paid for their crap. They lack basic research skills and get called out often by commenters, then edit the story accordingly.

He went full retard over the Redskin issue that is for sure!!!!! He didn't last very long though. The experiment failed. He served his purpose nailing
Bush and once he left office Olbermann was seen as a self righteous winker.

Definitely too many ex athletes allowed into the fray. No doubt. Just because u were great on the field or court or whatever doesn't mean squat when u join the talking heads outside of some perspective from an athletes side of things.
ESPN should just pump out the 30 for 30's. They are awesome. The commercials are awesome too.

That was pretty fun to watch. I'm just glad we're not in the video, I know we've been burned on the run by slow qb's in the past.

Unhappy Re: NFL offseason 1.0 thread

I blame ESPN for killing ABC Sports. Really George Michael Sports Machine was a great show. Now both the sportscaster and singer are both gone!
