Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes
Yeah I really could give a flying F who runs the business side. The business side runs itself when the football side operates in a way that gives the fans hope. We don’t even need wins, we just need hope that there will be wins, and then we spend money.
Of course you’re right, nothing brings on hope for wins like actually showing you can win.

I agree. I don’t give a crap about “winning OFF the field”. It’s so wonderful having adult supervision and building a winning culture after the years wandering the desert as Cerrato/ Allen make gross mistake after mistake. I believe this team will turn around FAST. All the old, overpaid, hurt FA will be gone. This team will see some real talent arrive in FA at TE, WR and CB and other positions. Then we’ll have a very good draft with Edge phenom Chase Young joining the defense. This will be a changed and YOUNG (no pun intended) team! Many of the problems of the Redskins related directly to piss poor coaching. Sweat had 7.5 sacks when he was falling back into coverage HALF the time. What’s he going to do opposite Chase with a REAL DC? People will be amazed at how quickly certain parts of our team will immediately IMPROVE. Other parts will take more time but this team will be a lot better next year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes
Are we all drinking off season kool aid again or does the absence of a Smithers Burns (be it with Allen or Cerrato playing the part) actually give cause for optimism? My fan nutz have been kicked so many times over the last 20 years I am hesitant to get excited. Like there may actually be a curse or something.

A stunningly obvious but refreshing to hear quote from Jack Del Rio via JP Finlay

It was obvious to even the most casual observer.... don't think it takes a genius to see it, but gives the new DC reason to believe he can turn things around quickly

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes
Couple of things.
1. "Snyder has undermined every coach but Gibbs": I think it's telling that Gibbs told RR "Keep DS in the loop" AND that RR deemed that info an important tidbit to share publicly. I imagine the conversation with JG went something like this: RR "So, is DS the interfering busybody the press says he is and is he going to undermine my decisions?" JG "DS is just passionate about the Skins, a big well-intentioned fan that happens to be the owner and wants to be part of the team. As long as you keep him informed about what you want to do, why you are doing it, and generally make him feel like an important part of the organization, you will be fine." From what I have seen, I think RR will manage DS just fine; that, more than anything else, will be the key to the Skins future success. 2. I hate everything about this regime because it is doing so many good things - without actually telling everyone they are doing good things ("We are winning the offseason", "We have a damn good culture.") - that I can't wait for next season to start. For the next nine months I will alternate between being excited and dreading the nuts kick - I am going to need medication. <sarcastic font off>. Now, draft the Predator and pass me the damn Kool-Aid.

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes
For what its worth, Chris Russell mentioned on his podcast yesterday that he had checked with multiple sources who said the skins still plan to make another front office hire (like a GM/Team President) after the draft. Kyle Smith's contract runs through June 2021, so he will definitely be here for the next two offseasons, but no word on if he got an extension along with the promotion recently. Snyder and Rivera are both very high on Kyle Smith, so bringing in someone else does not mean undermining Kyle in any way. Russell said he would not be surprised if Rivera brought in the Panthers GM to take on a team president/GM role or if they brought in AJ Smith as a consulting role.
This all seems very reasonable to me, but I wont put much stock in it unless Finlay and Kiem start reporting it.
