A character in Snatch said, "Don't piss in my bucket and tell me its raining." By all apperanaces, that's exactly whats happening here. Snyder fired one yes-man and hired another. Allen has never been a "real" GM before. He's only been a yes man. If Snyder wanted a real GM, he wouldnt have hired Allen. Snyder has lead a dysfunctional franchise for so long, he doesn't deserve us to suddenly beleive he has changed now. He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Time will tell, but i'm remaining skeptical until proven otherwise.
What's a "real" GM?

Allen didn't make the decisions in Tampa. Gruden did. Allen was just a yes man with a GM title. And his record was under .500.

A "real GM" would be what we - the fans - have been screaming for for years - a guy who would run the football operation and not just be Snyder's yes man. Don't beleive the BS from the press conference. Snyder and/or our new HC will be pulling all the strings. Allen is just a figurehead with connections to the team that Snyder's using to pacify the fanbase.

Well until we know who our coach and other FO positions we're looking at you can't really say that it will be an issue. Perhaps he'll be a "yes man" to a guy that's a hell of a personnel director? Didn't we have a problem with our scouts and personnel people being overridden by Snyderrato?

You're entitled to your opinion...however you have a tendency to present your opinions as facts here. I think everyone should be in a wait and see mode. But you are definitely going out of your way to present "information" to "prove" your point. And I put these words in quotations because you have brought information that is mediocre at best to prove your point.

How can you say Allen is not a real GM? Allen has respect around the league and has been the GM on 2 different teams. He is not a yes man.

Allen wants "good teammates, somebody that we can count on"

Snyder "he is a seasoned executive.. very appropriate for the title"

starting today Allen "feels the pain of 4-9" will be talking to the current staff to find out what caused that, etc

According to DS, Joe Gibbs approves of this move (per news conference).

Allen admitted to making some mistakes in FA and the draft

said we'd be ready whether it's a capped or uncapped year

Every GM makes mistakes. What Cerrato made was a whole other story.

*edit* Disasters, thats the word I'm looking for.

Good answer about Gruden...saying that we do not have an opening at that position right now and that Zorn is the coach. Well I guess that's expected for him to say...but he also said he has relationships with other coaches. I can't tell if Zorn is in the conference room.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged

When asked about a possibility of Gruden Allen said "Well we don't have an open position at that spot. Zorn is our coach, I just met him about 2 hours before I met you here, we'll talk with him in the next few weeks and see how that relationship develops" and that he has personal ties to hundreds of coaches

It's GM speak but people who didn't watch will obviously want to know what he said.

I like how Snyder keeps referring to Allen as a seasoned executive. He also mentioned that it'd be up to Allen to assess Zorn.

I am actually impressed with Dan Snyder. How about that? To me, Snyder sounds like he has decided to step back and allow a GM to run the team.
