Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

Let me clarify. I believe he's lost the locker room. I know he's lost certain key players. And really, if Kedrick Golston doesn't listen to you, so what. If Lorenzo Alexander doesn't that's an issue.

Ah yeah, I missed his post.

Well we already know he's gone after this season. I don't think they wanna hand the defensive reins over to Morris mid-season.

Who else would call the defensive plays?

Too early to really know in regards to draft/free agency.

I think as long as he wants to stay Shanahan will stay. Think there'll be significant changes with the coaching staff though.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

You know all this talk about Haslett, I am actually OK with our 3-4 set up, we have been pretty good against the run until this past week. Its the secondary that is playing like crap. That being said they probably need a change at Defensive coordinator. I mean you can't be last in the league verses the pass and think everything is OK. The NFL doesn't work that way. It very results oriented and if you don't get it done, changes happen and folks get fired.

Not much of a pass rush though, secondary notwithstanding. Leave a QB enough time and they will find a downfield target.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

I am not in favor of mid-season firings, but if Hasletts truly lost the lockerroom, then he has to go. Our defense honestly could not be any worse and you'd have to think that his exit could give the defense some sort of spark if the players wanted it to happen.

Is there any possible scenario where Kyle becomes OUR head coach in 2013?

I dont see any circumstance where Mike is here for the 2015 season. So if we lose kyle, we lose our succession plan, continuity, and could be starting from scratch again in 2015.

It's possible but not likely. He's got potentially two great offers. One as HC. One as Assistant HC. Depending on how some things shake out.

Kyle isn't necessarily the heir apparent here anyway.

If things happen as I expect they might, they won't be starting from scratch

I do. I've never like 3-4 defense. Yes, we have gotten more turnovers but we also give up a lot more yards and points. Think about his going into next year in a 4-3 defense - Rak & Kerrrigan on the ends/Carreker(could also be used a a DT) - bowen/Jenkins/cofield/Nield as the DT, riley/fletcher mlb, wilson/jackson/Alexander (or move him back to DT) or FA as the olb's, DB - FA, Wilson,Hall,Crawford, S- need major upgrades here. The point hat I'm trying to make is that we would not have to have a major overhall of players to go back to the 4-3. Our defense has sucked since going to the 3-4.

As much as I like Kyle, I simply think he's too young at this stage for a HC job. I have no doubt about his abilities, but will players respect a guy who might be the same age or even younger than some of the guys he's coaching.
