Re: Redskins vs. Jaguars Thread

I think starting the season on PUP is likely for Kelly, unless his knee is seriously f'd up. Hopefully he just needs some rest and more rehab.

I just want to point out that Chad Johnson, sorry Chad Ocho Cinco, is playing with a torn labrum so who knows how he will be. Javon Walker was stinking it up in preseason and was way, way down the depth chart and only caught a break because Drew Carter is out for the year. Ditto Bryant Johnson who, as recently as last week was actually 5th on the depth chart as he's battled injuries. DJ Hackett, as usual, has been hurt all preseason and is wasting a chance to start with Steve Smith out a couple of games.

So it's not all cotton candy and lollipops out in veteran WR land either. Just sayin.

Not really... it's tough to gauge anything with just 7 plays and a handful of starters out.

Last night was wash in my eyes. We really didn't learn much of anything.

Did anyone also see on that one play where Erasmus James actually got tackled by the OT right before he sacked the QB and it didn't get called?

I was all aboard on the pickup Bryant Johnson bandwagon too...

Great point SS.. For all of the LaCanforas of the world who love to point out problems without any barometer of the factual options, we are at exactly the same place we would have been if we'd have splurged in free agency, EXCEPT we have 2 young players with moderate contracts vs. older players with more expensive contracts.

Re: Redskins vs. Jaguars Thread

Well I have back JC ever sense he was drafted and I laughed at people jumping all over Colt. Well i'm starting to stop laughing and have the feeling that JC might not be the guy to run this team. I'm still in his corner but he needs to pick up his game and show improvement with each game. I'm not asking for him to lead us to the SB this year but he better show more then what he has over the past three weeks. It just seems that Colt has that swager about him which shows on the field. Even though he has failed to score in the past couple of game it just seems that the O clicks better when he is out there. The one person who looked like they where playing to make the team last night was Justin. Our run D looked good last night but it reminds me of our D back in 2006. Remember when we would hold a team to 3rd and long only to give up a big play.

^^^ yeah firstdown my thoughts exactly about JC. I am just surprised it seems he still has the same bad mechanics since we drafted him. Holding the ball low, takes a big wind up to throw it, doesnt seem to have the mental IQ to read and pick apart defenses. JC does have alot of positives aswell but he might be years away from "it" clicking in his head. Ive said this before and noone has bit on it yet but . . if zorn doesnt feel confident with JC after this year, does he get to handpick his own qb next offseason giving campbell 1 more year to show us he is elite while zorns qb develops? in this league i dont think you can be complacent with average at qb.

go skins!

It means that they keep getting anyone they can get no matter how he might or might not fit the plan. If they had a long term plan and drafted according to the plan they would have players that would fit what they are trying to do. IMO the Skins keep taking other team's cast-offs (not always bad cast-offs but usually on the decline of their career) and trying to force them to fit instead of drafting and developing their own talent.

I think even if in two years or even next year he wanted to go with his own QB, let's say Colt, it's in the best interests of everyone that he develop Campbell to the fullest extent. If not for us, then at least to drive his value up for another team.

Definate bright spot! He was all over the ball all night. Obviously, that dude wants a job

The announcers last night sure made it sound like Colt is Zorn's handpicked guy.

I think the team is committed to JC for this year and next at the least, which conveniently enough will take him to the end of his rookie contract. If he's not the answer at the end of 2009 both sides move on and you've got Colt entering year 3 and hopefully ready to compete for the job. If JC is the answer they re-sign him and life is good.
