Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
Lets just hope Beck is the modern day Trent Green. I would say Beck starts with a short leash. I would say both are going to play this season if one struggles.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
I finally voted after seeing the last preseason game.
As much as I really WANTED John Beck to win the competition, he has not. Grossman looked amazing game one....seems much quicker with his decisions, sure, he doesn't move as well...but the way some are talking Beck is some sort of Vick...which he clearly is not....I don't see the upside we were sold on Beck...he looks like a backup to me...but so does Grossman for that matter. I don't like Grossman firing straight into ILB's occasionally and forcing throws that get picked...but he certainly seems to have a better grasp of the offense and is quite decisive, quickly and that is very good. Beck seems to occasionally stare down receivers and doesn't know how to take a sack yet...he does make some rookie mistakes Really this is a toss up...but to me, since no one has shown they can be the long term qb...you play the QB that is more effective, and without looking at stats but watching every play...I give the preseason ball to Grossman (yuck)

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
I think that anyone SOLD on Beck vs Grossman probably is buying too much into coach speak and the media... I give beck the bootleg, with this offense is that enough?

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
I like it how Beck fans straight up act like the last preseason showing against a second string bunch of bums didn't even happen.
It's like taking 33% of this miracle man unknown quantity big upside mobile QB's preseason audition and saying let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He's earned it. Now let me go stick my head back in the sand. Last edited by wilsowilso; 09-03-2011 at 11:30 PM. |

I would be more worried about our Oline at the moment being able to drop back block then who the QB is going to be at the moment because it wont matter who we got back there.

The problem is that we do not have a starting QB on the roster.

Yeah right, a 30 year old journeyman QB that only started 4 games his entire career, is all of a sudden going to play like a franchise QB and lead us into the playoffs at some point in the next 5 years. And people think I am nuts for taking Frerotte as my screen name. |

I don't like either of'em. I guess I prefer Beck only b/c I know Grossman's best is only inconsistent mediocrity with flashes of awful. W/ Beck, there is the hope that he may be more consistently mediocre than Grossman. If you think Grossman is a sure thing, then you have had your head in the sand for most of his career.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
I think we start Grossman not saying he will be our starter for the entire season but he will get the 1st crack at it.

I'm not sold on either guy for the record, but a choice has to be made.

If I had to choose, I'd pick Andrew Luck. Kid was ballin again yesterday. Doesn't look like he's going to pull a Locker this year.

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
I think that too many people are judging Beck by the redskins last performance with Tampa Bay. I think that Shanahan accomplished 2 things that game.
One was to play vanilla to hopefully confuse the giants a little. And the other reason was to see how Beck (and the offensive line) played and responded without the help of much gameplanning. As a byproduct, it also confused everyone to who will be the starting qb. I think it definitely will be Beck. |

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
What if Rex Grossman is actually ready to become a far more consistent QB?
Dude throws four td's against the Cowboys in a very limited audition last year behind a dysfunctional o-line and many many Redskin fans are still convinced that you know what you get with Grossman. Good and Bad. Except Grossman hasn't gotten any kind of real shot with the Washington Redskins to even show if he has actually developed. What if Grossman is in fact ready to be mostly good Rex? Because a mostly good Rex Grossman is an ABOVE AVERAGE NFL QB. Just for the record I don't even know if I like Grossman I just don't get why Beck gets the benefit of the doubt just because nobody has seen him play. Grossman already has the experience making the same mistakes that Beck will invariably have to make if he is ever going to become a consistent NFL starter.
