Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
We shall see. This is all a game of cat and mouse. Their betting the two owners will flinch first and buckle because all the other owners agreed with the punishment. So let's let it go to arbitration. Almost every other person can see that the AGREEMENT was technically illegal or against the law. It's just a shame 30 owners. Ant get off their high horse long enough to see or admit they broke the law. They think because they have have an agreement with the NFPLA they are safe. Well wake up owners cause you might get a rude awakening when it's pointed out no matter what the agreement you broke the law and might void the whole new CBA and be forced to pay hundreds of millions of dollars like another league was forced to do.

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
Two questions:
1) Would we have any options if we lost this arbitration case? I suppose we could still go "nuclear" and sue the NFL for collusion, but it wouldn't make any sense to burn our own house down... 2) If we win, and piss off the NFL... What can they do to get back at us? Open up the bounty cases? I feel like this whole thing is like a kid calling the cops after his father beat him. The cops will go away, but the kid is stuck with the father for a lifetime.. Last edited by ethat001; 03-26-2012 at 10:14 PM. |

The league has us hooked two ways as I mentioned earlier when others were arguing we were all cleared in the bounty case: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...IvcS_blog.html

If they reopen the bounty case against us, how far are they going to go back? Buffalo?
I mean seriously when is there a statue of limitations? There has to be sketchy stuff that's been going on for years. If you start reaching that far back, you're going to open a HUGE can of worms.

All Goodell needs to do is send the message to the NFL that he did with his punishment with the Saints organization. That's all he needs to do. From that point, what's done is done. You have to have faith that the punishment is a loud and clear enough message to the other teams. From there, move on. Getting back to the cap penalties, I'm not surprised the other 30 teams voted in favor of the sanctions. Why wouldn't they? They are getting a competitive edge in doing so. I have no idea what's going to happen, but I think things are going to get real ugly, real soon between the Redskins, Cowboys, and the NFL.

Regardless, the NFL is arguing pattern of behavior, not individual contract status. It's still a bogus claim, but it may be harder to disprove than simply saying well you approved them and that's that. |

There were many teams that did this. It's hypocrisy to say the least.

I am not arguing the cap hit is bogus, anyone with half a wit can figure that out (except G1, who does have half a wit, just chooses not to use it on this issue), simply that Peppers contract numbers from Sporttrac were just wrong. Last edited by CRedskinsRule; 03-27-2012 at 11:13 AM. |
