Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
At this point I am so shell shocked at the QB position. I just know I don't want a stop gap elderly person back out there or pretend known quantity back up QBs are starters. It is a disservice to one of our genuinely good players in Terry. WRs crave continuity and routine for success and if we are going to get him another 1 yr QB I see him going elsewhere. He deserves better.
At this point my preferred choice would be to trade for a younger consistent starter. I would prefer that to someone whose ceiling is high but floor is low. If not find the most pro ready QB in the draft. If he misses so what we were no worse off than if we roll out Mitch Trubisky or Carson Wentz. Obviously Russell would be nice but I doubt he comes here. |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
None of this years scenarios are ideal. Not much we or Ron can do about it. His attempts to "Swing for the fences" have failed, in hindsight I am super happy we didn't manage to sign Amari Cooper to big guarantees, even Jerry appears to be regretting that signing now

WFT problem has been one of timing. Have never been so bad that they were in a position to draft a Joe Burrow (But o so close), have been uncertain as to their position when in hindsight they should have taken QB (Haskins) or have had a draft without any genuine franchise QBs (this year). If there were any supposed franchise QBs this year Ron would still have to sell the farm from 11th to get one, with no certainty of whether the guy will work out (see Sam Darnold). It is basically a crap shoot where you don't get rid of a a proven QB unless you already have a better replacement (see Cousins, Kirk) which is why I would be stunned if Seattle traded Wilson or GB traded Rodgers |

Mel Kiper said Willis to Washington is a perfect match… it’s so hard to tell anymore with college QBs. Most said Josh Allen would be a bust and he’s a top 5 QB now. I’m just hoping we actually hit for once.. we never do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is that just lazy journalism though? given that once upon a time Ron picked Cam Newton? Ron seems to get saddled with that a lot

Draft Kyle Hamilton or a QB at 11. I'm all over the map on the QBs. Right now I like Howell. By next weekend it will be someone else. Drafting QBs is such a crap shoot, so I'll be OK with no matter who they pick, because I have no damn clue how it will pan out. But gotta keep swinging.

Ben Standig of the athletic made a big point…if we take the first qb off the board at 11 then that’s a condemnation of the qb position this year in the draft

Hamilton is supposed to go in the top 5 or 6 picks.
