Re: This Offense Is Too Conservative

NO ITS NOT SAD. We started running the ball had low success. We also have to recognize our O line is NOT healthy they arent opening the same holes as they used to. We switched to a more throwing offense but agin we only have ONE reciever its tougth to mount a potent offense with ONE reciever. We took the team as far as we could now its time to address the gaps and Get ready to DOMINATE THE LEAUGE NEXT YEAR......HELLLL YEAHHH. GIBBS IS GREAT HE HAS BROUGHT BACK HOPE AND SUCCESS TO WASHINGTON AND THE REDSKINS.......i cant wait for AUGUST.........LETS GO SKINS

Re: This Offense Is Too Conservative

It looked like to me that we made an effort to get Jacobs involved today which I believe was the smart move, but he really didn't do much, perhaps the verdict is closing in on him as another Florida system reciever?

Either way I want Ramsey in there next season. Brunell, if not for a fluke play to Moss, would have mustard 2 field goals, in 2 playoff games, if you want to count the Hall mis, OK, 3 field goals, the guy isn't going to get any better.

You can't play smash mouth football if your 1 dimensional, you have to make teams respect the pass, that didn't happen for us in the playoff's, that has to be rectified!

And last but not least, WHAT ON EARTH IS RAYMOR DOING FILLING IN AT GUARD FOR BROWN??????????????????

We would be better off putting a beach ball at right guard. I can't believe after 2 years Molinaro can't step in there? What does that say about Molinaro if Raymor is playing at guard ahead of him?

Re: This Offense Is Too Conservative

I am a big team supporter and was in Brunell's corner all year and this not in any way a diversion from that feeling but I think we need to get more agressive and I think with Brunell as QB we simply cannot do that. He plays smart. Too smart. He knows how to not turn the ball over much and that's by not taking any chances. problem is that skill wise he turns a lot of easier plays into more chancy plays. I like Brunell as a backup. And I like him with quality parts around him. But having one good WR and a banged up O-line is a recipe for disaster for this team. We depth at WR and anothe decent o-line. Raymer needs to go for sure.

I think there will certainly be an open competition for starting QB in training camp. Once again, unless we trade him, it will be Ramsey's job - or Campbell's - to win.

The big question, to me, is who can we get at WR and OL?

Good point. I think we saw the most we can expect from him this year. It's not enough to get to the next level. Sorta like Dilfer wasn't good enough to keep Balt on top and look at them since their SB. We need to look at that team and figure out what they did wrong. Hint: they didn't get a top quality QB to run the O. I love Brunell and think he does great at what a BACKUP should do. Protect the ball and give the defense the reigns to the game. We can't continue that pattern.

Offense never got hot until late in the 4th. Too many missed opportunities to score.

However, I'm very proud of the overall efforts of the coaches and players this year. We really got a great team here, one to build on for next season.... Hail SKIN!!!

I think we were too conservative until we went down a lot and then we turned it up but it was way too late. It should be the other way around, be as aggressive as possible, then call the dogs off.

Remember guys...that is why we got Jason Campbell. However, I think it was a great move to have Brunell starting for us this year. Believe me, you'll find that Campbell AND Ramsey benefited a great deal by watching a decent veteran QB run the offense. Sure, Brunell isn't a TOP QUALITY QB, but he is a quality QB who is going to give you a chance in the game. It was a smart move.

I agree somewhat. This was the playoffs, the time when we unleash everything we got. Conservative isn't gonna win here. Unfortunately our season is over, but next year we need to be better. I for one think we should run more no huddle outside of two minutes left in the half. Look at some great teams that do it. The colts for instance, they went no huddle for an entire game. Look at where they are at now.

Agreed. The book on Campbell before the draft was that we was a terrific prospect who needed time to develop. I think working with Gibbs and his crew and learning from Brunell is a great situation for him. If he can add some of Brunell's knowledge to his physical skill, he has the potential to be our QB of the future.

Re: This Offense Is Too Conservative

I agree with the conservative calling. I must say this and i know some people will agree and that is with our running game and yes we did great this year running the ball, but when you cant run inside which is not portis' strong point we need to run the tosses and sweeps for portis he ran much more effective with that style of running today when we did run them plays. I just think we have to run the ball to his style of running and will continue to say that.

Great Year regardless of outcome...... Hail2em

Re: This Offense Is Too Conservative

The offense has been the weak link in this team for 2 years now. The last two games were truly awful, from an offensive standpoint. Our "D" is a championship calibre defense and was the same last year. It's sad to see them play so well, game in and game out, only to be undone by an offense that sometimes shows up and many times does not.

Would love to see another competition at QB at training camp next summer, but my guess is that Gibbs will stick with his man. Brunell played well (even great) for spurts this season, but he has been awful these last few games. The O's poor play and total inability to even move the ball is why our season ended tonight. Bottom line is - Brunell will never take us to a championship.

We also need to upgrade our kicking game. A new punter is needed and John Hall just cannot kick off worth a d*** anymore. On a regular basis, our opponents were starting from the 30 yard line and even more, mostly due to his poor kickoffs. A good kicking game is crucial for the Skins to improve.

Having said all that, this was still a season to be proud of. I, for one, believed they were through when they were 5-6, but they fought back with a lot of guts. Makes you wonder how far we can go if we can only get a higher level of play from our QB?

Not to kiss your butt too much, but I love how much thought you put into your posts. They are always so well written.
