No, I'm pretty sure he was talking about QBs. Unless Ramsey can play long snapper or third-down situational running back or something.

Certainly, just about every team will get hit with an injury here and there. But nobody's keeping 4 quarterbacks on their roster, that's for sure.

Yeah, but it looks like the draft will allow them Vince Young or Matt Leinhart. And they haven't given up on Chad Pennington yet.

Either way, the Jets won't have to come crawling on their hands and knees begging for Patrick Ramsey now.

The Collins announcement isn't going to hurt anything, teams already knew the Redskins' plans.
That I agree with...they need to remain patient.

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Collins

BTW, I don't think the skins made this anouncement, for what it's worth. Probably some snitch or other. Whatever--it's clear that Ramsey is gone one way or another, so if the market drops, no one is going to trade. Cest la vie in the NFL, especially with both Culpepper and Brees on the market, and some hot QBs in the draft. Not a great situation for Pat and the skins, but thems the breaks.

Just wondering--is Collins any good?

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Collins

John Clayton said on Sportscenter that the Jets are now only offering a 7th for Ramsey. The skins lost all hand in this Ramsey trade by announcing a Collins signing before the Ramsey deal. I just don't get what the hurry was to lock up Collins...

Hasn't been the case from the start though? The Jets were offering a 7th, we wanted a 4th. Hence no trade

Re: Redskins Sign Todd Collins

From todays post...
"Some teams now believe that with the addition of Collins, the Redskins are more likely to have to release Ramsey, according to a source, because teams will be reluctant to offer much for him, knowing Washington has a glut of quarterbacks. The Redskins would save $1.7 million in salary cap space by cutting or trading Ramsey, and have about $11 million in 2006 salary cap space already devoted to the position."

This basically confirms what I have been saying in this thread about the signing of collins destroying the redskins leverage in a Ramsey trade. I don't see why they couldn't have made a verbal deal with Collins and not announced anything until they had traded Ramsey. This is not that big a deal...but it did cost them a late round draft pick.

it changes nothing. people knew we were going after collins a logn time ago. people knew ramsey was trade fodder months ago. nothing's changed.
