Re: Possible reason for the Ramsey trade stalling...

The problem is not that we have 4 QB's and that teams will wait for him to be released before going after him. Players bring good trades all the time that other teams know will be cut at some point. The highly desired players teams will trade for because they want them before another team gets to them. Ramsey is not one of those players so he will end up being cut or we will get some high draft pick for him.

Perhaps Ramsey's own expectations are too high if he is saying no to the Bengals. I mean, he wants to start somewhere and not be a bench warmer. Fat chance of someone offering him a starting job. Wherever he ends up he'll be a backup to start with and unless the primary QB does poorly or gets hurt he won't see the field.

at first iw ould have thought someone would offer him a starting job. now not so much. its time for ramsey to cut and run. hes GONNA be a backup somewhere unless someone gets hurt.

Hey this is my first post over here on Warpath. I was thinking since we dont want/need Abe anymore, and I think a 7th round pick for Ramsey is a waste, how bout maybe we trade Ramsey and our 2nd round pick for the Jets 2nd round, 36th overall pick? That you put us in an excellent position to grab either a very solid CB or LB that may be able to contribute immediatly and fill one of two big defensive needs.

I LOVE that idea. Jets might even be willing to go for it too.

welcome to the board!

if they would only give us a 7th, they won't trade up that far, cause the value (for them) isn't there.

Thanks for the Welcome. You dont think they would make that trade since they wont be losing the pick, it just drops a few slots. They still would have that 4th overall, QB is a HUGE problem area, even if they draft Leinhart they may need a backup because they really have no one. I think they would be much more willing to trade down a few spots and get a QB they are interested in then to give up an entire pick

on the value chart a 7th is worthless and moving up even one space in the 2nd is worth more than a 7th, so that'd be a massive stretch. why not keep the #2 where they'll have access to 20 more (and presumably better) players and toss a 6th or 7th instead (which are truely worthless).

If you were on the other side of the deal and ramsey's value to you was a 6th or 7th, there's NO WAY you'd think that'd be a good trade.

So I guess the real message here is that even a team that desperatly needs a QB of any kind regaurds Ramsey as worthless. Cant say I blame 'em
