Re: Lincoln Kennedy To Try Out For Redskins

Dont see any reason why this is a bad idea. We obviously could use the OL depth and if he turns out to be in good condition he would be a monster backup

Hey, it's just a tryout. He comes in, shows what he's got in camp, and if he's too big and fat you cut him and there's no harm done to your salary cap.

Worth a look in camp. It's not like WR Mike Espy is going to have a chance to make this team, so you might as well jettison his ass and bring in someone who may be able to provide some useful depth.

I certainly wouldn't mind them picking up another DT.
You're really on a roll.

Right, and it's not like we're looking for a starter. You bring him in, work him out and if he signs you have the preseason to get him up to speed condition wise. He would be a great insurance policy down the line.

35 is not that old, especially when you haven't endured a 5 months out of the year beating as an OL for the past two years. Getting back into playing shape after being in playing shape your entire life isn't going to be that difficult. He's not expected to start versus the Vikings (or versus any other team) which means he has even more time to get into shape.

Exactly my thoughts. If needed, he probably wouldn't be needed until week 5 or later (hopefully never). Also, for the veteran minimum (shouldn't be signed for more than that), he would be a steal. Not to mention, if we got him that would prevent the cowboys from having him (as someone mentioned earlier).

Go for it.

I totally agree here. I would be suprised if this guy got whipped into shape first of all, and secondly legitimately beat out one of the current back-ups to make the roster.

If he does, however, that would def be a bonus for the Skins.

That's a great idea to help Brunell stay healthy...he could be a FB. But, can Brunell see the field with him in front of him? He might not be able to see over OR around him!

Re: Lincoln Kennedy To Try Out For Redskins

Let's let the strength and conditioning coaching staff evaluate his overall physical condition and Bugel can evaluate his footwork and form. Lincoln Kennedy brings depth and experience to our offensive line, something we have a need for.

Has there been any non-Scout.com confirmation of this? Nothing against WarpathInsiders, but I'd like to hear another independent source.

A conditioned Lincoln Kennedy brings depth and experience to our offensive line. While he's "getting into" shape, keep in mind he still has to beat someone out to make the roster.
