Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

Taylor Jacobs is still on this team? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to use his roster spot to carry a 3rd kicker or something?

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

I believe Darius Thomas had a pretty solid season one year in Miami.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

you mean Derrius Thompson? Yeah, after a pretty respectable here in '02 he went to Miami and had a good year there. But then all those same issues with him of work ethic and understanding offenses came up and he fell further and further down the depth chart.

I think he's with the Saints now

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

Thompson had 26-359-0 in his first year in Miami. Sorry but that's not solid, and he was supposed to be their #2.

I just have to wonder how on earth TJ has stayed on the roster for this long.

He has talent and works hard in practice. Every player who talks about him speaks highly. The coaches see something in him that we - and everybody else - don't see on the field.

That, or he is Joe Gibbs love child and he has pictures!

Maybe he will show something tonight.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

Potential. He's got good hands and is/was quick to the ball. And he came out of a pass happy system. With the additions of Randle El and Lloyd, that potential isn't going to keep him on the roster.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

Potential will keep you around for 3 seasons or so. TJ has reached his limit.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

I think this last injury is the last straw for Jacobs, I think Gibbs likes the kid he's a hard worker, but with all the talent we now have to go along with this kid Espy who seems to be endearing himself to the coaches, Jacobs will have to really impress to stick around, if I were Gibbs I would be exahausted watching this kid stand around on the sideline.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

From Friday's Washington Times:

"Receiver Taylor Jacobs might be out with an injured groin, but he didn't just watch his teammates . At one point, Jacobs was doing pushups to the side of the huddle as his teammates ran plays."

I guess that shows some determination on his part. But I don't think it's enough. By the way, in B. Lloyd's latest journal about the bond among the receivers I saw no mention of Jacobs. But kind of cool that he was Betts' QB in high school, and his brother was Thrash's QB in college.

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

From today's WP:

Quote:
Nine players likely will not travel to Cincinnati for tomorrow night's game. Among them is wide receiver Taylor Jacobs.

Being inactive for an exhibition game hurts a player's chance to make the team, even for a fourth-year player such as Jacobs, who faces major competition at his position.

"It's not in my hands," Jacobs said. "I ran hard in practice."

Jacobs acknowledged that the difficult job of making the Redskins' roster has grown more difficult with this latest injury.

"I know it's going to be tough to make it here," he said. "I know I have the talent, it's just a question of getting the ball a little bit more."

Re: Taylor Jacobs injured again?

T-flop always works hard during preseason, and the few chances he does get with the ball, he doesnt do crap. I think the coaches just have a thing for him, I wanna say he will get cut, but I don't know anymore. It is like how everyone has been saying Arizona is gonna be beast next year for the past 3-4 years, same thing, I am just not gonna say T.Jacobs will be cut.
