It's still way too early to get up in arms over the QB situation. They're still learning the offense and working on getting on the same page. For the first preseason game, things went pretty much as expected if you ask me. Yeah we could have done without the INT, but he did hit Moss and Lloyd with a couple of nice throws, and actually overthrew Lloyd on a deep ball (so much for the bum arm take).

Exactly, I am not a Brunell guy as you all well know but I want him throwing it away in pre-season when theres any kind of trouble, theres no need for heroics when the game doesn't count, I really don't want him out there in the pre-season, but because he needs time to learn this new offense as well as 2 new WR's we have no choice, I also don't want him making any tackles on INT's, if I am the coach I have him run off the field the second there is a turnover, the INT he threw is exactly why he needs to be playing in the pre-season, either Lloyd, or Brunell read it wrong I don't believe he was throwing it away, better to get the kinks out now than the reg season.

This thread is insane. Everybody needs to take a deep breath. How can anyone say that Brunell lost a step when he ran the offense for 5 minutes?

Give me two tightends, the starting line, and Betts or Portis in the backfield. Run 50 gut. If they get shutdown on that, then I will worry. Otherwise, this panic over the first pre-season game is comical.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. That was just the very first pre-season game, the team will regroup and play better Saturday night against the Jets. We will continue to improve as the pre-season unfolds. Rome wasn't built in a day, that's why I have learned to temper my summer expectations, not talk SB before we win some games. It's great to have high hopes and great expectations, but at the same time they must be simmered with reality.

I think alot of the worry is that he'll (Brunell) return to "disgruntled" form again. The age old argument has it's legitimacy, but definitly not from a series or two last night.

If anything I'm excited because Jason Campbell looked like the opposite of "crazy legs" ramsey. His footwork was without the Ramsey-esque panic, and he had the poise that we've all been waiting for.

The climax of that game for me was JC's beautiful pass downfield to Ortega or whatever his name is.

he's 36! what do you expect? of course he's not the player he used to be. if he was, they'd be making medicines from his blood. everyone's aware, including Brunell, and again, the transition is already underway.

until then, he's smart enough and not dead enough to carry this offense along.

as brunell plays probably his last effective season in the nfl...

nah i figure hes as good as he was last yr...there is rust lets just give him and the rest of the offense time to gel.....mark is a smart qb and he is whats going to get us over the hump and into the playoffs this yr like it or not
campbell on the other hand looked like a nfl quarterback as john madden said...his pocl\ket presence is impressive we shall see ...
