Re: Redskins v. Giants: Goat of the Week?

I won't change my theory on the QB situation, in which I believe we need someone who isn't eligible for AARP anytime soon.

But in this case it was just bad across the board. The offense sucked, the defense sucked. It was just painful to watch.

And to all these people bitching that we need Springs so bad.. Superbowl.. Even playoff calibur teams do NOT anchor on just 1 person being out. If Portis is out or if Springs is out playoff teams make up for stuff like that. They come ready to play regardless if they are banged up and they bring it hard. Not play some effortless, piss poor football and run around like headless chickens that don't know squat.

If your team is relying on 1 or 2 superstar people to be there 16 games in and out, then thats not a good team and serious changes need to be made. If the Skins want to make it to the playoffs this year, they need to learn to step up where their is setbacks and the Skins haven't quite figured out how to do that, namely in the secondary. How many times did Rumph get beat today? I mean it was just plain ugly.

The whole team was bad. Everyone. The line actually played ok for a good majority of the game.

W/ that being said, yea the qb steps up on championship caliber teams. Brunell can't step up and make plays consistently. Everyone shares blame in this one though.

How can a recieving corp of Moss, Randel el, LLoyd, Cooley not be open against one of the worst secondaries in the nfl? I don't get it.

What's so aggravating is they looked spectacular against supposedly one of the best defenses and defensive lines in the league last week. Brunell had all day against the Jaguars and barely had a stain on his jersey at the end of the day.

Matty,

If the team has no inspiration who is going to light a fire under them? You could say coaches but these assholes collectively make 100 million plus per year, they should be accountable. The coaches can't make a big pass or escape the pocket after having 7 seconds or more. Who the hell else should we blame?

It's good to see that the Brunell-haters vote as a block. A small but vocal minority.

Sorry. Misread the table. Only one Brunell-hater so far...

I wish benching Brunell was the miracle cure, but it's not.

It's getting really old. Team loses, bash Brunell. Team wins, the haters are quiet, mostly.

I am not a Brunell hater but if I see his weaknesses exposed and we lose the game because of it, I am going to call a spade a spade.

You are right, benching him is not the answer. This is a question with many parts.

So let's call out all the spades. The atrocious 3rd down D today. The big plays given up. No pressure on Manning. Shitty tackling. No run D. Shitty execution on offense. Missed FG by Hall, etc, etc.

Brunell is just one piece of what was a team wide problem today. He doesn't deserve to be singled out today.

I certainly understand your sentiments Matty. Brunell is NOT the sole or main reason for our woes. Due to the defense's inability to stop the run or pass, Brunell simply was not on the field long enough to make enough mistakes to lose the game. And benching Brunell would not miraculously cure our team's problems. In fact, benching Brunell would effectively end our season and make our problems worse, at least in the short run.

However, Brunell, like much of the rest of the team, has been very inconsistent. Brunell has shown the ability to play very, very well when given time and open receivers. Brunell has also shown an inability to make plays when under pressure. He simply is not good enough to make up for deficiencies in other areas on the team. Given that he is the QB, one of if not THE most important player on the team, it should come as no surprise that he gets a lot of the flak when the entire team plays poorly.

Right now, Brunell is the best option we have by a long shot. Let's just hope he can turn this thing around because we all know that if he can't our team is sunk. It would be a big shame if we can't field a good team with the kind of weapons we have on offense.

Another good point.

Our uniforms are dogshit. Can we at least look decent when we get kicked in the teeth?

Gregg Williams. The D couldn't get themselves off the field. It almost seems like the secret is out on how to beat GW defenses. The blitzes are always picked up, and we constantly get sucked into screen passes.

On O, need to find some way to get the ball out of Brunell's hands and into Randle-El's. Today, the Giants D was at the point of attack before we were, especially Peirce on running plays.

Suck ass game all around.
