Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

AP is the only one I was relly disapointed to see go. As for Ryan Clark....I don't think we would be notice he was gone if Pierson Prioleau didn't get hurt, and no one can predict when that happens. I think we really miss #20

Yeah I think that's the point that alot of people are missing.

If Prioleau was healthy we probably wouldn't hear a peep out of the Clark lovers.

Nobody could have predicted that Springs AND Prioleau would both be out, Springs is a big loss and Prioleau is a very underestimated one.

Thats a real good point. I still like Clark and would probably mention it, but its weird that I dont even think about Prioleau! He was very under-rated and thats ashame.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

I thought Ryan Clark was adequate. I didn't mind the attempt to upgrade him, but I do mind the choice we made. Archuleta blows. It's not Ryan Clark I miss, it's Archuleta who I hate.

Also, I used to think we were better off with Lemar Marshall at MLB making $1 million per year instead of Antonio Pierce making $4 million a year. Now I'm not so sure. Lemar is a solid system LB. He'll make an INT here or there. But Pierce is one of the savviest LBs I've ever seen. Nobody diagnoses plays faster than he does. I miss him VERY badly. Pierce was asking for more than Marcus Washington made, and I can understand how Gibbs would want to draw that line. But I'm not so sure Pierce isn't just as valuable, if not more so, than Marcus Washington.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

It's not the front office's job to plan a game and to motivate and use players. We came out flat as week old soda. Is that Snyder's fault? Come on. When a team ACROSS THE BOARD plays like that, it's not jst this or that personel move, IMO. It's about coaching and team chemistry and leadership. When this team plays with fire, we are a good team (see LAST week!); when we come out as we did in NY, we are a bad team. Which suggests to me that the problem is NOT player moves, it's how the players we have here now play. And that, IMO, is on the coahing staff, the highest paid staff in league history. Snyder and Vinny aren't coaching, and in all honesty, they are not deciding any longer who to get in the draft and FA. Do you REALLY think Snyder is telling GIBBS who to get? Come on.

If it were anyone but JG, we'd be talking about coaching. Snyder is an easy target, everyone loves to hate him. But that's Gibbs team out there, folks.

the problem with not paying pierce is that it means holdman has to be on the field. lemar is better than him at OLB.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

Maybe I was misunderstood. I am saying those guys wanted alot more money than they were making, but the people that we have brought in are way over what we would have had to play our own players. Archuleta, is a perfect example, highest payed saftey ever. Hey, I think he had the best game of anybody against the Giants. At least he made tackles, but what we payed him alot and alot to many of others. We could have just kept what we had, probably saved money and would be a better team at this point.

at least if we kept the cheap guys and they still sucked, we'd have more cap flexibility to fix it :/.

I agree with you, this past game was a coaching issue, not a player acquisition issue. But that's not the point of this thread. We have let some players go, and brought in some others for higher pay, and the decisions haven't made sense.

That's not the reason we lost against the Giants though. The biggest reason we lost was we just played like a bunch of girls. No fire. No emotion. The offensive line had no pride, no will to beat the crap out of the Giants like they did against the Jags.

We may have made some mistakes with player personnel, but we still have done a good job of putting a lot of talent together. Enough talent to win if we play hard. But that shouldn't stop us from criticizing questionable personnel decisions.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

I saw the coaching rant thread AFTER I posted this here! My bad .

PS I'm fine with acquisitions--it's hard to single these guys out when everyone is playing badly. But AA and Carter especially have to do MUCH more if we are going to have a decent season.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

wow its amazing how everyone's attitude has changed. when i express the same thoughts in april and through the first couple of weeks i was called a closet cowboy fan or traitor. see the differences between the redskins and the other teams that when like the philly, pats, carolina, balt, sea, etc is they use the draft to improve their team, instead of spending millions over millions of dollars on fa.we spend 10 million here and there for anyone who looks prettier in their uniform. lloyd, randle el,carter, the great white dope number 40,the list could go on and on. we always win the super bowl every march and april, it would be nice to win it in feb sometime. we all get excited and fooled evert offseason by this owner and front office its the joke of the nfl. never have any draft picks ever.just trade them away like it means nothing. look how dallas, phily are being built every year draft and draft.we have the worst qb in the divinsion and we gave a third round pick for him when he was going to be released. let smoot go and pay rogers about 10 mill siging bonus but we cant pay smoot. so we draft roger and pass on merrirman. let ryan clark to another great move by ol danny and vinny and gilbbs. the skins will win next week and everyone one will say were BACK GOING TO PLAYOFFS MARK BRUNELLS BACK THROWING SCREENS. Loved his overthrow of portis wide open by 10 yards thank god peirce couldnt catch it. we should didnt need peirce either we have marshall and holdman, is rocky every going to play since we trading extra picks like we always do, not just on special teams maybe could he start on defense. hail to the skins

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

even if you forget about the good/great players we let walk, there is still good evidence that the FO has failed us. Just look at the players we overpay: AA, Brunell, Carter, Patten, Springs, etc.

the jury is still out on some of these guys, but the underlying theme is that we overpay for old players and/or players who haven't lived up to their potential. sometimes this works, but the odds are against you whenever this strategy is employed.

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

Why would we pay Smoot #1 money for his #2 ability. So far this year he has no INT's and 1 Pass Defensed. Ryan Clark didn't even start for us his first five games when we got him from the Giants and he only ended up with 65 tackles and 1 Pass Defensed his first year with us. He would be an upgrade right now but only because he had two years with us to finally become, at best, decent. Archuleta definitely sucks BIG TIME in coverage but he is by far a better tackler than Ryan Clark could ever hope to be. Archuleta will get better as will the CB play, especially from Wright. Rogers is still learning but he has been thrust into the #1 role a little too early for his own development. He may get there but I see him as a #2 for us if we keep him once his contract expires.

I miss Pierce and I was certain at the time he would be a Redskin for life but having only one great year with us doesn't mean you're getting the best payout. Plus, I'm sure (again, at the time) the thought process was that it was GW's system that made him so good. There's some saying about hindsight...

Re: WHATS WRONG WITH OUR FRONT OFFICE? Barber, Trotter, Smoot, Pierce, and Clark.

Signing Archuleta to this team was a mistake. We all bash Roy Williams cause he can't cover then we got out and sign a worse version of Williams. I don't think Archuleta could cover me.

Another thing, Clark fell outta favor with a lot of the fans because LT stiff armed him to the ground on the game winning TD run last season. You know what the difference would be if it were Archuleta? He'd be too damn slow to be in the play! Hell, LT crushed Joey Porter with a stiff arm last night, I don't think it's too embarassing to have one of the best RBs in the game hit you with a stiff arm.
