Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
The defense gave the ball to the offense with enough time in both cases for at least a field goal. We squandered that. It's campbell time baby. Think of the Chunky soup commercials!

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I dont think anyone expects Campbell to light the world on fire, but I think everyone sees that we have much bigger problems right now and its not getting fixed. This team is going no where and its time for Campbell to take his licks and learn how to play QB so maybe we can be good next year.

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I totally agree that the defense was a HUGE problem. I also don't think that switching QBs is going to dramatically change our team's fortunes. However, it's about time to admit that Brunell is cooked and it's time to start playing for the future.

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
Yes, bench Brunell. Outside of the long completion to Llyod, Brunell did nothing except:
1) Waste a critical timeout in the 4th quarter because the game clock was about to expire. 2) Take a delay-of-game penalty at the Titans' 30 yard line that moved us back to the 35 and out of FG range. 3) Throw an interception to end our chances. 4) Lead us nowhere on our second-to-last drive. He's done. We could have started 2-4 under Campbell!!

I'd say the problems with Brunell and the defense are about even. He was making un-veteran-like mistakes towards the end of the game, while being focused on Moss who was triple covered numerous times. Somebody else said it, if a rookie would make the same mistakes Brunell is making, what's the difference? It's not like he's giving us veteran leadership to win when the game is on the line. Those were desperation heaves we saw in the 4th quarter. With the defense, we have what we have. The defensive line sucks, the secondary sucks and the linebackers are non-existant. Williams doesn't have anyone else he can replace. Gibbs on the other hand, has two options that he refuses to try. |

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I'd say the D is the bigger problem. Henry had a career day and put us in the position where Brunell was forcing the issue. When a back runs for 178 on you it's tough to win no matter who your QB is. Brunell can manage the game well enough with support but the defense is a major disappointment right now and is giving us no help at all.

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
Matty, I've yet to see evidence of Brunell running the Offense efficiently.
It's always something minor that becomes major. The D is disappointing, the Offense has too many weapons to be this lethargic. |

Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
By no means am I a Brunell fan but I think we can win with him. We can't win with Brunell when Portis carries the ball 14 times though...
