Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
I am happy that Betts has stayed with the team. Next on the list is big Dock! I sure hope we can resign him as he is really coming along this season.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
When you look at our free agent list the only names that stand out to me are Dockery and Betts. Now it's just Dockery. Hopefully, the FO is now on the phone to his reps working something out.
As for Betts, good deal. Good. Hopefully this is a sign of how things will be done in the future.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
Not that I ever think CP has mailed it in, but I think this is also good news for Clinton, because the competition will spur him to work harder, especially if Ladell finishes strong.
I'd love to see Clinton used more in the open field, especially as a receiver, and let Ladell crack some heads inside. A lot like, ironically, the Falcons had been doing with Warrick Dunn and TJ Duckett. |

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
I'm glad to see this deal get done, it shows the Redskins do care about resigning their quality players instead of just dumping them to the street for new faces.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
This is a good move. Now lets lock up Doc and our other FA.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
Speaking of, apart from Dock, who else is going to be a FA this year?

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
Saunders better stay or they may as well throw Jason Campbell's carreer in the shi*ter...he spent the last year switching from Gibbs offense to Saunders offense and now they would ask him to switch back and this after all the different offenses he had at Auburn. For better or worse they need to stick with this Saunders decision and make it work.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
Mostly just the bottom end of the roster: http://www.thewarpath.net/WarpathRedskinsCap.htm
Outside of Betts and Dockery, the two biggest names are The Ade and Derrick Frost, but I don't know if they are UFA's or RFA's Based on the Cap Sheets here are the rest: Jeff Posey Kenny Wright Todd Wade Vernon Fox Warrick Holdman Ethan Albright Jim Molinaro Mike Pucillo Ryan Boschetti Todd Yoder Brian Kozlowski And then, of course, there's Duckett <sigh>

I'd say the Redskins need to at least resign Albright - at least by doing this we know the snapping will not be a problem. Other than that I'd like to keep Puchillo becuase putting him at tight end has opened things up in the running game and none of the tight ends on the roster would be considered above average blocking tigh ends. Keeping Fox would be good too. Other than that everyone else should feel lucky to make the team next year on this list. |

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
I think they care now. They didn't the past few years. I'm still pist at letting A. Pierce get away to the Giants. So I say good move not only for the team, but good for the morale in the locker room.

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
I'm a little surprised but I'm glad we locked him up.
I wonder if this means we'll go back to more "Redskins football" next year. Just keep pounding it up the middle with our 1-2 punch. |

Re: Ladell Betts contract extension
in this day and age, keeping two solid backs is key... keeping one of our own is a start in the right direction. betts' pass-catching ability from the backfield is impressive under saunders' playbook- this offense will expand with portis back next season.
