Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
So now the question is does it makes sense for Gibbs to bring Brunell back in a back up role even after a retructure?

Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
Well, I don't know if anyone has heard this at this point, but sportscenter said that Gibbs wants Brunell back for next season. You probably already heard this since I am usually the last one to hear about things, but I saw a comment or two about not wanting Brunell back.
I personally have no problem with bringing him back for the simple fact that he'd be a good backup. It's either Brunell or Collins...i'll take brunell

Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
I remember one of those Post articles saying that many in the organization viewed Brunell and Gibbs' relationship as an example of a coach getting to close to a player. I'm just waiting for Brunell to be introduced as QB coach after next season.

What are the cap ramifications if you cut him loose now versus holding on with a restructure or even MB retiring? I think that is the biggest problem with this whole thing is the cost associated with ANY of these decisions.

Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
Because the current staff has given taken upon themselves to perform the impossible task of A. running the franchise, B. judging and aquiring talent, and C. coaching. Now after screwing up at least 2 (if not three) of these duties on a regular basis, they don't have enough faith in their own talent evaluation abilities to make what most people would consider an "easy" decision of replacing an injured QB on the downside of his career with the quarterback of the future that was handpicked (using 3 draft picks).
The coaching side is hard enough but assuming that you can take care of the other duties related to running a franchise because you won 3 super bowls solely as a coach is either extremely stupid or inexcusably arrogant. Our team has no grasp of reality and as long as the marketing machine is firing on all cylinders, nothing will change. Never fear Redskins fans! Our time to shine above all of the other franchises is upon us! The Washington Redskins - Undisputed, undefeated Champions of the offseason 7 years running... |

Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
this really pisses me off,Brunell was injured 2 yrs ago when we sucked so bad and kept it to himself and gibbs stuck with him 5 games past what anybody in their right mind would do,then the exact same thing happens 2 yrs later? fk brunell,I hope his frickin arm rots off or gibbs will pull jc after 1 half in the first game and stick brunell back in there, wait,I hope both his arms rot off because gibbs would probably still run him out there with one arm

Re: Now we know why Brunell kept dinking and dunking
I'm tired of the brunell bashing.
He ran the team the way JG wanted him to. He did an OK job with the way the other 10 guys played. MB had to deal with all the bullshit from Gibbs/Saunders, WR Corp, Crappy Line Play, and Defence getting blown out. MB had a higher Yards Per attempt Average and More plays over than 20 yards( Ave per game) than JC. I'm glad the switch to JC was made. Now we can move on to a new era. But, MB played better than JC. JC didn't throw downfield either, he dumped off to Cooley and still missed those throws! Brunell is a class act and a Business man. He is not going to step away from gauranteed money. No one would. I don't want to hear people say he should restructor and retire. The team screwed up and signed him to a large contract. Mark did his part, Now the team has to live up to it. I'm tired of players holding out and I'm tired of fans expecting players to give back money when they can no longer play just because its right for the team. Here is another potential problem: If we cut him, will we have to pay extra for an injury settlement? He was hurt in a game... It's time to redirect the blame from Brunell to the front office. |

So who do you blame? I blame Brunell...he HAD to have known. I'd like to beleive that Gibbs and co did not know. If they did, I have lost a lot of respect for them. While I do blame Brunell, he is a competitor...I broke my ankle and played hockey on it that night. (scored 6 goals and 3 assists) But I wasn't my normal self. I didn't take myself out, and I didn't tell anyone. Why? Because I can't stand the thought of not being out there playing. If Brunell is anything like me, I can understand him not wanting to relinquish his post. So why did Gibbs and co. not look more into his performance? Who is our QB coach...or do we even have one?

Just so you know, we lost that game 13-12, and I feel that my normally tough D was weak and helped us to lose the game.
