Re: Let's do it: SB Predictions!

If Manning plays horrible and the game remains close, then I'll say the Bears. But if Manning breaks that Chicago D, and it turns into a shootout, the Colts will win easily. The Bears don't have a good enough offense to keep up in a shootout.

Re: Let's do it: SB Predictions!

I see this game as very similar to the Giants/Bills (Norwood miss) Super Bowl. The Colts have a great O (like the Bills) and the Bears have a great D (like the Giants). I remember back then the talk was how the Giants will never be able to keep up with the Bills but the did by keeping the Bills O off the field. If the Bears can keep Manning & Co. off the field then they will win. I think they can do, and if I'm getting 7 points I like it even better.

Bears 20
Colts 17

Re: Let's do it: SB Predictions!

I think both defenses step up and have huge games, leaving this to be low scoring. Manning will struggle, as will Grossman, and it'll be up to Gould and Vinatieri. While I'm pulling for the Bears, Peyton will make Daddy proud.

Colts 18
Bears 12

Honestly, I think the Bears defense scores twice. It's all about which Grossman shows up. If he can at least play AVERAGE, the Bears win 24-20.

Bears 28
Colts 17

The Colts WRs are gonna be hurtin' from the beating the Bears D will give them. It's gonna be hard for them to get open. Combine that with the Bears special teams and the Colts weak defense, and it doesn't look good for the Colts.

The Colts wide receivers weren't hurting when they played the Ravens, why is it that they're going to be hurting against the Bears and they seemed to do enough to win against Ed Reed, Chris McAlister, Ray Lewis and Company. The Colts weak defense? Have you watched them in the playoffs? Their defense has been playing nasty, absolutely nasty.
So far in the playoffs, the Colts have done this against their opponents
The Chefs: 82 Yards passing, 44 yards rushing.
Ravens: 161 yards passing, 100 yards rushing
Patriots: 226 passing, 93 rushing
In the playoffs they have caused 6 turnovers.
But hey, their defense is weak. Colts win this game, no question.

The Ravens defense is good, but they are not even close to the Bears, IMO. The Bears defense is the most physical defense I've seen in a while.

226 yards passing, 93 yards rushing, 34 points, and 1 sack is your idea of a "nasty" defense? Get real.

GhettoDogAllstars, did you not look at the rest of the stats I put up? I want you to write out all the stats I just posted, and then next to each of them write "is your idea of a 'nasty' defense? Get real." next to it, so you can see how stupid you sound. I am being real when I say this. Are you forgetting how the Patriots normally embarass the Colts during the playoffs because the Colts defense has been so soft? Well, guess what, that clearly didn't happen this year because their defense stepped up and helped the team do something they have not been able to do before. I'm also being quite real when I say that they've held many good players in the league such as Larry Johnson, Trent Green, Jamal Lewis, Steve McNair, Corey Dillion, and Lawrence Maroney to sub par games. You get real.

How convenient that the stats you want to use are the oldest. Look at what they did most recently, please. The score was 28 to 3 against a mediocre Pats offense. That's not good. How is a defense "stepping up" when they give up 34 points to a mediocre offense?

None of those teams you mentioned have top 10 offenses. I'm not saying the Bears do. I'm just saying those stats are garbage, and so is your argument.

Re: Let's do it: SB Predictions!

I won't be surprised if the Bears do win this game.

They have that magic formula for winning championships, a tough D and a great running game. If Grossman can just be average and not give the game away, it could be a very close game.

I really don't think the Bears are getting enough credit. They're 15-3 and they just steamrolled the Saints and they're 7 point dogs??

Re: Let's do it: SB Predictions!

And don't forget how good the Bear's special teams are, especially when compared to the fact that Indy just gave up something like 220 kick return yards this past Sunday.
Then again, Manning has two weeks to prepare for a defense that Tony Dungy basically helped develope. It's hard to have too many doubts in Colts' offense.
