Re: Russell to the skins?
IMO this is another example (if it happens) of how the redskins seems to value everyone else's players above thier own.

Re: Russell to the skins?
Yes... this must be true... just like it must be true that Snyder must want Randy Moss because Synder was seen watching Moss catch passes at a football game. These guys write this stuff to get people to read. They are the National Enquirer of sports writing. Don't let them fool you.
We have to bring in JaMarcus. If he falls to #6 then that means some wierd stuff has happened ahead of us and we need to know about him. It can happen. Remember Aaron Rodgers?

Re: Russell to the skins?
That is the only reason any interest in Russell makes sense.

Re: Russell to the skins?
This is a garabage rumor. It makes absolutely no sense for the Skins to move up and the Raiders to move down. However, I got to see a lot of Jamarcus Russel last season, he CAN play. I think he's gonna be really good, but trading away Campbell to make it work is just stupid. I like Russell as much as anyone who is scouting him, I just don't buy the rumor and don't want him to replace Campbell.

Re: Russell to the skins?
I wish everyone would stop freekin out on this. There obviously must be talk that Russel is going to slip which wouldnt surprise me cause this dude didnt show me much to be the #1 pick. Nobody was even talking about him untill the LSU/ND bowl game and then everyone is on his jock because of one game. Oakland is probaly either trading the first pick which means CJ will go first and Quinn will go to the lions (causing russell to probaly slip to us) or there gonna take Quinn(and russell could still slip to us). It's just a smoke screen and is actually pretty brilliant because the FO is adding value to a player who otherwise would have none.

Re: Russell to the skins?
1) having russell, a top prospect, come in for a workout is standard practice when you have a pick that high at #6, and it is SMART LONG TERM planning. We never know if JC will be around in a few years & this guy might be a free agent. At that time our staff will have at least had some personal 1 on 1 time w/him.
2) Everybody tries to throw out some smokescreens before the draft. I think now agents are getting into the game too. As someone noted earlier, there was a rumor in 05 that we would sign S. Rolle to a 15mil bonus. Agents like the Skins, cause even if we don't want their player they can use Snyder's name to try & drive up the price. I think this is compounded by our f. office not being very good at networking in the nfl & Snyder not being very open to outsiders (based on reports). 3) Who knows how far his stock might fall between now & April 21 or how teams will change their approach. He might actually be there at #6. We could draft him & trade him a la Eli w/SD. 4) JC is the man & Gibbs brought him in. I think JC will be a better qb than Russell. So the guy's an athletic freak, that can only get you so far. I can't see Gibbs & co. doing anything to affect JC's confidence. We need a young qb, but rounds 4 to 7 will be the time to look for one. |

Re: Russell to the skins?
The only way I could support us drafting Russell is IF he somehow drops all the way down to us at the #6. The guy looks like he's going to be a beast, but we've already given up so much to get Campbell that I would be shocked if we dumped him after half a season of actually playing for another new kid.
Really though, I don't put much stock into this right now.

Re: Russell to the skins?
Why would the Browns trade for Portis when they can get a better, younger, cheaper back in Peterson? The only team dumb enough to fall for a trade like that is us.

Re: Russell to the skins?
2 players we dont need....are you serious, outside of moss/ Lioyd and randell at best is poor 2nd and 3rd receivers, antwann a great returned, but Calvin Johnson is a beast a freak of nature, and adrian peterson, is probably going to be a stud in 2 yrs, we still have Betts, and Jason Campbell will have a speedster and big target to through to, which means betts and peterson, will keep the 8 man from honest.....I LOVE PORTIS, THINK HES GREAT, but how much longer you think he will hold up, i hope forever but last year is a bad sign,........but sorr dmek25, i guess your opinion is the only one that counts
