Unfortunately that's the type of mentality our front office has of picking for need as if we're one player away. Take the best player available, especially if he is as can't miss as Johnson. No way anyone can think that he wouldn't be an upgrade over Lloyd and Thrash.. Moss is set at #1 and Randle-El is a strong #3, if Johnson falls we'd be FOOLS not to pick him.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Well this kills the possibility of us getting CJ.I am pretty sure Alt is going to move up to get him now. They have the picks to do it thats for sure.I expect to see Alt move up to #2.All they have to do is flop picks with Detroit throw in a 2nd rounder this year and one next year.

What if Oakland gets David Carr and then decides to draft CJ? Who would the Lions get with the 8th pick? Brady Quinn likely wouldn't be there. JaMarcus Russell wouldn't be there and neither would Joe Thomas or Adrian Peterson. It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out- and affects the Skins...

We won't need the top WR next year either.
You got that right. Remember the people who had Troy Williamson as our #1 target a couple of years ago?

The dude has 61 catches for 827 yards and 2 touchdowns in two seasons.

I don't think Troy Williamson was ever considered to have the same potential as Johnson.

Well I don't know how good Johnson will turn out to be, it does seem clear that he is generating a level of hype that I havent seen for a receiver in the draft in quite some time.

I mean, the consensus on him is really really strong.

So much for the theory that the Texans were dying to switch first rounders with us to get Brady Quinn.

Well, there are a lot of differences between Rob Johnson and Matt Schaub. I don't think that was a good comparison.

Schaub completed 67% of his passes in 32 starts at Virginia. That's very good. However, he wasn't espicially highly sought after coming out of college.

We can either say:

1. The scouts were wrong. They simply overlooked this guy.
OR
2. Schaub's stats are a product of his college system.

I'd put my money on the former. Al Groh hasn't exactly pumped out QBs since Schaub left.

Schaub can be very good, and I'm almost certain he will represent an improvement over Carr. But he's NOT a sure thing because of his draft position. He's got a lot of stuff to prove to the scouts who didn't give him a top two round grade.

Rob Johnson, on the other hand, was a talentless QB. Everyone knew that but Wade Phillips.

Well, now the Falcons sit at 8. Okoye played for Petrino at Louisville, so I'm betting that we're going to have to stay ahead of them to get him.

What has Carr done in the NFL.Nothing so why would Oakland want him as there #1.I also live about a hour away from Detroit and there are rumors that the Lions want one of the defensive players in the draft.Lets face it the Lions need help at almost every position. So they could fill one of there holes at 8.By the way there is the possibility that Peterson will be there.

I think you're right, especially considering that Kearny left via FA.

These are my thoughts exactly. We aren't one player away, which in my reasoning, if Johnson is there we take him. Period.

CJ is a bigger upgrade as his respective position than any of the available defensive lineman are at theirs.

There's not a lot that any QB can do from lying on his back 10- 20 times per game. You could be Peyton Manning, but if you don't have a good O Line to protect you, then you'll look crappy. I think Carr has great potential, he's just in a sticky situation. A change of scenery would probably do him well.

PS. Aaron Brooks hasn't really done anything in the NFL and Oakland wanted him last season. Just saying
