Re: Pacman suspendened for entire 2007 season!
I know what you mean. It does sound subjective. However, I'm willing to bet that there is a definition of it in the CBA.

Where is my lawyer!!! How dare they ask a guy to act professional on his own time. It's not like kids watch football or look up to these guys or emulate them.
I guess now he will have to work for T.O. as a housekeeper or something so that he can learn how to behave badly while still receiving a check.

It is a FACT that he kept a Georgia arrest for ASSAULTING A POLICE officer a secret from the Titans. The Personal Conduct Policy explicitly states that players have to tell teams about any legal incidents.

I say "uptick" because I tend to think that this is no more of a problem now than in the past but it is simply being reported more and now the league has image issues. |

Re: Pacman suspended for entire 2007 season!
good post grillz, and i agree. but with a union the initial suspension is always the toughest one to uphold, because all future suspensions will look at this as the ground breaker.

But, wasn't the union pushing for stiffer penalties for these kinds of violations recently? It's like when Carson Palmer came out and said how he hates that he has to be associated with guys like this. So while I think the union will have put up some kind of protest, I doubt it thinks or even really wants to change anything. The bottom line in all of this: WVU is to blame!

Re: Pacman suspended for entire 2007 season!
I think the CBA has a personal conduct policy that leaves it up to the Commissioner to determine how a player should be punished. The NFLPA can appeal a punishment, but I think the ultimate decision rests with the Commissioner. While that leaves the Commish with a lot of discretion, I think the Commissioners have been judicious (some would say too judicious) about handing out tough punishments and haven't abused their authority.

I don't care if there was precedence in place or not. This is a harsh consequence for acting like a douchebag. In one word, this is justice.
I know I'd have been fired for a lot less.

He represents the NFL just as you represent your employer and they really don't need a writen policy just use sound judgement. I'm sure there are writen guide lines players have to follow and that the NFL reserves the right to suspend a player as they see fit.

Re: Pacman suspended for entire 2007 season!
This new commish is not playing around. What people are forgetting is that three people were shot at this strip club and a guy that Pac Man was with most likely did the shooting. Becasue of this a man will never walk again. People need to remember that. What if that was one of us, or it was a friend of ours? I think the punishment was very fair. Pac Man needs to learn that hanging around bad people will get you nowhere in life.
Chris Henry's punishment was also fair. He constantly gets in trouble. It's like he just can't avoid being arrested. Dude needs to learn how to be a man. No excuse for driving around with a suspended license. Pay your ticket like everyone else does. Grow the f--k up and learn how to be a man. |
