Just played my first franchise game. Lost to Tampa Bay 10 - 7

The Good:

Portis had about 127 yards rushing, including an 80 yard TD run

Taylor had two INTs

The Bad:

Brunell threw three INTs

I'm still getting used to the controls, (I still keeping hitting buttons as they are in the EA games)

Stay committed to the run and Portis will lead you to victory. Tampa feasted on me when I passed, so I passed very sparringly. I killed the G-men with 3 def TDs, but Dallas beat me, which I was not too pleased about.

well. Im like six games into my season. And while I thought it was cool at first the way it looked real. When it comes down to it give me madden 2004 over 2k5 anyday. As soon as I get the new madden I might as well trade in this game. The franchise mode is just not that good. The only advantage that I would give to ESPN is if you just like playing head to head games, the presentation is really cool. But in a franchise, the way its setup to check stats and stuff is just not good. In madden you can hit select on the game yoru playing and you get a ton of info there. ESPN does give you a coach profile about what types of plays you call, but I like seeing my rankings and stuff laid out ina nicer fashion.

I like 2k5 a lot. In its favor are the halftime and post game wrap ups by Berman, the feel of it is great, and it rewards you for playing smart football (punting on 4th down, establishing the run to open up play action). Personally I was upset that I couldn't get LaVar as active as I wanted (In Madden '04 I'd line him up as an end in the dime and nickel packages and he's a holy terror). I also don't like that Gardner seems to drop a lot of balls, but maybe that's too realistic for me.

Overall it's a pretty good game, nothing I'd choose over Madden, but something different to play while waiting on Madden to come out. And for 20 bucks a pretty good diversion.

Lol. I agree, he does drop a lot. I try not to throw it his way, but sometimes you have to.

its weird, I throw to Gardner all the time in 2k5. Which is weird becuase I usually throw to my right side receiver, and coles most of the time. But Gardners routes seem to work well in the game and he hasnt dropped one yet for me.

I dunno, i'm guessing its on normal level cuz I just start a quick game after popping it in. don't have the time to make many adjustments, just enough to play the game, but I'm sure I'll try it when I buy it this week.

All-pro is tough. Just moved up from pro. On pro, all I had to do was give Portis the ball (but I could throw a lot if I had too), on All-pro, you have to be more balanced and Portis really has to earn his yards. Still I got a win in my first All-pro game. Usually when I move up, the first game I get my butt kicked. Taylor kicks some serious ass in this game. He gets a good number of picks and gets his share of tackles.
