Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies

WE definitely need to keep an eye on the Pats & see what the press says about them mid and late season. If the Pats fail or struggle, they will inevitably be compared to the Skins.

They deserve all the praise they get, but I just don't see them taking this team that far. I see 9-7, maybe a wild card. Of course on paper they've improved, but over the last couple of years on paper they've also regressed when they lost key players.

Everybody said they'd slip & they didn't. Well, now we may see at least a slight drop. My reasons for feeling this way are simply that they have changed the formula that got them super bowls. Maybe they will be able to get this team to gel, but in the last 2 years they've let some vets go while now bringing in some vet guys, which seriously alters the team's chemistry.

It also seems like their O line needed some help last year, but I can't say specifically that it's a weakness at all.

Yeah, 7th in the NFL in passing yards isn't very good considering his targets...yes, I'd say he was ripping it up.

Bottom line is they have Tom Brady. No one spreads it around like he does. Plus the guy sees the entire field. I mean if they pick up one more first down against Ind. they are playing in the SB. And they would have been playing with some hammy down WR's. So the guys they have now are upgrades. Then you add in Randy Moss. I know a lot of NFL teams would like to have Moss, Stallworth and Kelly Washington/Chad Jackson. I would rather have that threesome then Moss, Lloyd and ARE.
Yes, I left out the players who were on the team last year on purpose, I was talking about the new additions. And I'll make this point again... You can say that the Pats were one 1st down away from playing in the Superbowl, but I say they were one Charger fumble, a fluke charger fumble at that, from not even playing in the AFC championship.

Do you really think that anyone is going to jump on your bandwagon and nitpick the Pats? As a Skins fan, I'd love to be in their position right now.

This is not a bandwagon. I'm entitled to my opinion. I'm not nitpicking, I'm just making some points.

Unfortunately, your points were weak at best.

Do you remember what Stallworth did to the Skins last year?

Do you remember what play action does to Sean Taylor...like every time?

Well Manusky, I respect the fact that you think my points are "weak at best." Fortunately for me, I don't give a shit what you think.
You pointing out that Stallworth had a big game against the Skins last year is really what's weak at best. The Skins had the worst defense in the league. Wow, Stallworth had a good game against the worst defense in the league, I'm really impressed now. He must be awesome.

7th=ripping it up?

I thought you were in the "Brunell isn't getting it done" corner because top 10-12 wasn't good enough. Brady was better than 10-12 (at least by pass yardage), but if 7th is ripping it up, and 9th or 12th or whatever Brunell was when he got benched isn't, where's the line?

I thought Brady had a sub par year by his own standards. I don't think Caldwell and Gaffney are world beaters of course, but Brady had done much better with mediocre-to-good guys like Branch and Troy Brown, so I don't think having slightly different mediocre receivers changed very much.

Re: Brady's Bedtime Buddies

it's hard to say anything negative about the pats simply because they've been so consistantly good. i feel that they have definately upgrade their wrs and i would say they should be seen as the favorites to win the superbowl. the colts lost a few key players and the bolts lost a few key coaches, the pats on the other hand, gained a few key players.

Don't forget the 4 other fumbles, all recovered by NE...somehow.

Funny, when I first read this thread I thought about Giselle and Moynehan.

Well, they've definately done a great job in March and April for about 6 consecutive seasons now. They have strong, intelligent management.

But that's all that seperates teams like NE, Philly, and SD from the rest of the league. They aren't any more likely to luck into wins than any other team.

Some article I was reading made a great point. The Eagles are just the NE Patriots without the lucky bounces. Both teams have done an excellent job building their franchises, but when it comes to clutch situations, Philly gets hosed and the Pats pull a rabbit out of a hat.

And as a confirmed Eagle hater, I'm glad. But eventually, NE's luck will run out on them.
