Re: McNabb/Briggs trade?

I heard McNabb got Vick started on Dog-fighting. That info is going to go public and thats why the Eagles drafted Kolb and want to swap QB's with Indy for Peyton Manning. Meanwhile Vick had so much success in Lambeau in the playoffs that GB is going to trade for him and send FavRE back to the team that drafted him, Atlanta. On a side note this will also work out b/c Wisconsin hates dogs, in fact their state animal is a cat.

There is no financial incentive to move McNabb from Philadelphia. Reid's not lying when he says Kolb was picked for insurance.
I stand corrected then......i thought I read somewhere that he had two years left. My bad for not having my facts straight.

The Eagles have always drafted players at positions well before a need for their service arises.
It looks like Reid is ready to give birth to those 10,000 babies... Think of how happy the drug dealers would be!

Re: McNabb/Briggs trade?

1. I believe that McNabb's contract gives him an opt out after the 2008 season. So in a sense, he may indeed only have two years left on the deal although it does extend for 5 more seasons.

2. It's a bit harsh to say the Eagles have never acomplished anything with McNabb at QB. They were the worst team in the league the year they got to draft him. The reason they had 2nd pick is because that's the year the Browns came back to the league and the Browns has the #1 pick. From those depths, the Eagles have won the NFL East 5 times and been to the NFC Championship game 3 times and to the Super Bowl once. That's hardly "never accomplished anything". By that standard, Sonny Jurgensen "never accomplished anything either..." Dan Marino "never accomplished anything either..." Jeff George never ... well the analogy does break down there.

Re: McNabb/Briggs trade?

McNabb is expendable at this point. He has pretty much taken the Eagles as far as they are ever going to go. He choked in the big game a few years ago and with his injuries it has been all downhill from there. All he has to do is get that knee whacked really good and it could be all over for him. Option Qb's will never win a SB in my opinion, and McNabb IS overrated to boot.

I'd be curious to know why McNabb would want to opt out in 2008? His base salary is $5.5 million in 2007, and only steadily increases from there. The contract is backloaded to a degree, meaning a large portion of his money is still due to him.

I see no financial incentive for him to opt out and leave Philly, and I still think that on a national level folks are way underestimating Andy Reid's commitment to him.

The only reason McNabb would want to opt out like that would be if Reid decided Kolb was way too good to sit. I guess anything's possible, but I don't like the chances of that happening. Kolb's situation has Matt Schaub written all over it.

I'd be thrilled if Jason Campbell played this year like Donovan McNabb did last year before he got hurt.

McNabb is still an elite QB, the main knock on him is injuries, which is a legitimate knock. But that only serves to strengthen the reasoning that Kolb was drafted primarily as an insurance policy, not as the team's future.

this is about the most ridiculous statement i have ever seen on this board. how would you feel if in the last 5 seasons the skins had made the nfc championship game 3 times and the super bowl once? had a qback that lead the league in passers rating 4 times? explain to me how mcnabb is over rated?

Re: McNabb/Briggs trade?

Who would you rather have huh? Tom Brady or Donovan McNabb. MCNabb is overrated period and will not ever wear a SB ring on his finger. The guy totally choked in the big dance. A totally developed young vet JC will have a better chance of winning the SB than MCNAbb ever will. Why? Because he is more of a pure passer than Donovan and seems to have more poise to boot. That being said I do like Donovan. I witnessed him in person totally destroy the Univ of Michigan football team in the Big House his senior year at Syracuse and loved him ever since, but I do think he has reached the zenith of his career already. Like I said in my previous post, one good hit below the waist the right way and his career might be toast. Just wait til we unleash both Sean and/or Landry on his ass. IF they whack him on the knee if imght be lights out on his career. His reputation was made by his mobility, but with him knowing one good hit will end everything, those days could be over.

I would feel like thay had wasted a lot of opportunities. I think that McNabb was overrated but now most people see him for what he is: A\a good athlete with play-making ability whose passing accuracy and decision making run hot and cold.
