I guess. The Colts lost several starters on D and they are facing one of the elite offensive teams from last year and the Saints have 10 points in the 4th quarter. Something is not right and or Tony Dungy is pretty sweet.

Yeah it looks like the Colts defense is back in top form. Every season the Colts take losses through free agency and etc. and every season everyone thinks they will be worse than last year (including myself), and every season they look the same, if not better. Their defense definitely looks better so far, and I definitely thought it was gonna be worse considering the losses. It looks like they knew what they were doing when they let Jason David go to, the guy's been nothing short of bad tonight (other than the fumble return for a td).

Colts up 24 to the saints. Manning is just throwing bombs and making it look so easy. Why do people have the saints going to the superbowl?

Re: Saints Colts game chat

Well, we all knew that the Indy offense would still be stout, I guess the thoughts of the NO defense being stout was a bit off though.
What concerns me is the NO offense. I would have never expected that. They did not score tonight (the 1 td was a defensive td). Brees looked like Brunell last year with his dinks and dunks.
I touched upon something a few weeks back here about the fact that the Saints wr's weren't very good and Colston is a bit overrated. It showed tonight. Colston only scored 2 of his td's when Horn wasn't in the lineup, the rest was when he was. Colston is not good enough to be a sole #1.
Of course, the Indy defensive line was GREAT! Wish we had a pass rush like that.

I always find it amusing when people think that because a team did outstanding for one year that it will carry over to the next. The only thing NO has going for it this year to do well is the fact that the Falcons and Bucs are fairly weak and the Panthers tend to screw themselves more than anything else. A lot of things went extremely well for the Saints last year and those factors may not carry over to this year. Look for a decent offense from the Saints most weeks and a Jekyll and Hide defense.

Re: Saints Colts game chat

Indy's D was great last night. Whether they'll keep that up for the entire season is yet to be seen, but for one night they looked like a very good defense. They were flying to the ball, pressuring the QB, smacking people around, batting down balls, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Saints. They've got too many weapons to limp through the entire season. I think last night it was a case of them running into the World Champs, on the road, and simply being outplayed. The Colts' D played them perfectly.

Also, I don't think people gave the Colts enough credit coming into this season, I haven't heard any so called expert mention them as a serious threat to repeat this year. Based on last night, they could very well be better this year than last year. Scary thought.

Plus, it's game 1. Still 15 to go. It's a long season, Saints fans shouldn't get too worked up over last night.

Re: Saints Colts game chat

The glaring weakness for NO last year was the inability to stop the big pass play. FYI, they didn't fix it. The Colts are the one team that you cannot have any deficiencies in your pass defense if you want to beat. Saints look like they'll be a playoff team, but not a superbowl one if they don't fix that pass d.

Bob Sanders. When he plays the Colts defense is a completely different team then when he doesnt play.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Peyton Manning is just incredible. His performance last night just further solidifies my intense man-crush.

Watching him play is like watching a grown man play a game with little kids. Everyone else is just so far behind him it's unbelievable.

I agree. He's effing ridiculous. He absolutely refuses to take a sack, and you can tell he hates throwing the ball away. It's like he wants it to come down to a 3rd and long situation.

I actually started feeling bad for Jason David toward the end of the game.

The Colts have to tend with NE and San Diego with some other good teams in the mix too like Denver. The Colts were always in the discussion, but due to the fact that it's so hard to repeat, and losing some great players like McFarland to injury, it's hard to put them on that plateau again. I am not convinced just yet they are the team to win it all, but it appears they are primed for at least another shot.
I am more worried about the Saints turning back into the aints. They looked awful across the board yesterday. I do feel like you do that the Colts played them perfectly. They had an entire preseason to prepare for the Saints and the Saints opted not to try anything new.

It's because the NFL put a new rule in concerning the Radio Devices equipped in QB helmets. Basically, only one of those helmets is allowed on the field at a time. The green sticker just visually identifies which helmet has it.

He really is fun to watch. I don't think anyone can contain him anymore, his game is off the charts at this point.
