Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
10-11 wins, especially with the likes of Green Bay and Detroit doing as well as they are this year, and the Cowboys and Giants. If the Skins had beaten Green Bay, that would have been huge.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
When analyzing the schedule during the final 8 weeks, it is important to remember the annual collapse of the Cowboys and Giants, and recognize Joe Gibbs record after Nov. 1st. While there are many Gibbs haters during his second stint, he has shown the ability to rally the troops during crunch time. The Redskins should improve down the stretch, due to Gibbs influence and the return of Thomas in December. Conversely, the Cowboys and Giants should slowly decline.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
anyone got the stats on NFC vs. AFC record for the year? I think the NFC is doing alot better than in years past...
we beat an afc team on the road, and I think in our playoff year, all of the afc teams we played wound up beating us... Minnesota and Detroint both beat afc teams last weekend, and I think green bay has beaten 2...

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I think 9 will do it, if the 9 are against division opponents that matter--so we've got it in hand to get in with 9, I think, but we've got to step it up--the schedule looks tough to me, given our play of late, and with our injuries.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
if that trend keeps up we're going to have to win at least 11 games mathematically to get in...
we won't be as weak a conference as in the past... and I dont think 10 will do it unless it goes down to several tie breakers...

I look for the Skins to go 4-4 in the final 8 and end up with 9 wins. IMO that puts them in tie breaker hell so who knows what will happen. |

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I would think we HAVE to get at least 10 wins to make it in.
For the record I believe we will get to 10-6, and get in with a wildcard.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
There is no way we're going to make the playoffs this year. And even if we do, we're going to get knocked out in the first round. Look at our remainning schedule.
Philly - I predict a win here. @ Dallas - Loss, they're just a better team then we are. @ Tampa Bay - Could go either way. Buffalo - This is going to be a tough game in win. Could go either way. Chicago - Win @ Giants - Loss, we always play like crap in NY. @ Minnesota - Could go either way, let's hope Peterson doesn't go off. Dallas - Loss, once again, they're just a better team than we are this year. There's only 2 other games this year, Philly and Chicago, that we have a very good chance of winning. All the other games are going to be tough wins. And judging by the way we've played this season, unless they start going for the kill, we're going to lose a good amount of those games.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I gotta be honest here, I see us going no better than 4-4 the rest of the way through unless we go through a dramatic transformation on offense. 9-7 and just miss the playoffs...

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
Detroit has a tough schedule the rest of the way too:
10 Nov 11 DET @ ARI 4:15 PM Tickets FOX 714 720 121 122 11 Nov 18 NYG @ DET 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 717 123 125 12 Nov 22 GB @ DET 12:30 PM Tickets FOX 125 123 Radio 13 Dec 02 DET @ MIN 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 705 110 143 14 Dec 09 DAL @ DET 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 706 147 140 15 Dec 16 DET @ SD 4:15 PM Tickets FOX 715 147 125 16 Dec 23 KC @ DET 1:00 PM Tickets CBS 709 146 118 17 Dec 30 DET @ GB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 706 130 119 And we do hold the tiebreaker over them. Tampa's not all that great, but they have a freaking cake walk the rest of the way. Worthless NFC South. Atlanta twice, San Francisco, and Carolina. 11 Nov 18 TB @ ATL 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 704 121 140 12 Nov 25 WAS @ TB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 707 121 146 13 Dec 02 TB @ NO 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 706 181 119 14 Dec 09 TB @ HOU 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 707 155 153 15 Dec 16 ATL @ TB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 712 147 140 16 Dec 23 TB @ SF 8:15 PM Tickets NBC 83 126 122 Radio 17 Dec 30 CAR @ TB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 707 147 118 Minnesota has a fairly easy schedule too, but they can't throw, they can't stop the pass, and hopefully they have already ruined their chances by going 3-5 through the first half. Adrian Peterson can't run for 300 yards every week right? 0 Nov 11 MIN @ GB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 709 719 181 130 11 Nov 18 OAK @ MIN 1:00 PM Tickets CBS 712 119 105 12 Nov 25 MIN @ NYG 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 705 118 107 13 Dec 02 DET @ MIN 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 705 110 143 14 Dec 09 MIN @ SF 4:05 PM Tickets FOX 713 140 125 15 Dec 17 CHI @ MIN 8:30 PM Tickets ESPN 206 73 123 126 Radio 16 Dec 23 WAS @ MIN 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 706 158 155 17 Dec 30 MIN @ DEN 4:15 PM Tickets FOX 716 123 147 Carolina has an up and down schedule. At GB, at JAX, Dallas, and New Orleans will be tough. I honestly have no idea how they are 4-4 at this point. Their offense is bad, their defense is bad, and Vinny Testeverde and David Carr are their QBs. They are 4-1 in conference, though, can't expect that to hold up. 10 Nov 11 ATL @ CAR 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 708 125 123 11 Nov 18 CAR @ GB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 706 110 143 12 Nov 25 NO @ CAR 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 704 130 123 13 Dec 02 SF @ CAR 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 704 140 158 14 Dec 09 CAR @ JAC 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 708 125 123 15 Dec 16 SEA @ CAR 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 709 123 118 16 Dec 22 DAL @ CAR 8:15 PM Tickets NFL NETWORK 212 123 126 Radio 17 Dec 30 CAR @ TB 1:00 PM Tickets FOX 707 147 118 Assuming New Orleans is back, Tampa and Detroit look like the toughest competition. Makes that Tampa game at Tampa in a few weeks huge.
