Nevertheless, if someone told me Washington, Taylor, Rogers, Thomas, Jansen, Moss, and Thrash were going to be out of more than few games, I'd tell them we'd have a 6-10 season on our hands.
I just don't understand how we are getting beat up so much. I'm wondering if the "do you're own thing" back during the summer was a bad thing for our players? I know people have said the Indy is in bad shape with injuries as well, but look at them, they've lost two in a row. So, I'd definitely say injuries are definitely a huge reason why we're struggling to stay above .500 right now. On the flipside though, it's also a blessing. At least our backups are getting playing time and getting a chance to develop. I hate talking about next year (because we are still very much in things this year,) but you'd think we should have a pretty solid team with depth next season.

Well Thomas Jones was the only one to do so against the Eagles before yesterday so...

God himself would get injured if he were a Redskin, just because.

I wonder if Portis' success against a good run D had anything to do with the coaches putting the ball in JC's hands a little more. Seriously, that's not a rhetorical question. Common sense would indicate yes, but sometimes reality defies common sense.

I think it goes hand in hand. Portis having more success running the football has in turn given Campbell more confidence and success in the passing department. The same can be said about Campbell giving Portis confidence. I'm seeing at least two guys on that offense (Campbell and Portis) who I feel are true Redskins. Seeing Portis as down as he was after the Eagles loss tells me it's not just about numbers, it's about the team.

I think a lot of it has to do with the offensive line getting into a groove a little. With the injuries up front, there were initially 5 guys that were kinda thrown together, patchwork kind of, because of injuries to the starters. Now that they have a few games under their belts they are starting to gel a bit.

I would say Randy Thomas, Samuels, Jansen, and definitely Mike Sellers are also "true Redskins."

As far as Portis' success equating to the passing game, well sure. If a team is forced to respect the pass, it's gonna draw that 8th and maybe even 7th man out of the box and make running easier.

I think Portis' recent success has to do with 3 main factors:
1) He's finally healthy and in game shape after missing basically the entire offseason, a lot of camp, and the whole preseason.
2) The O-line is finally gelling after all the early injuries
3) The passing game is getting on track.

I agree with you in terms of the OL guys, and Mike Sellers...especially Sellers. I do agree that Portis appears to be finally healthy and the OL is coming together. And certainly the passing attack is getting on track. What made me feel Portis is truly a team guy and a true Redskin is to see how down he was after the loss against Philly. You can tell he really wanted this game. I don't believe it was because he had such a great day....well I mean, that probably had some to do with it. I just believe he, along with the guys you mentioned are here to see this team succeed.

I agree it was nice to see him internalize things a bit. Aside from his little Thursday costume parties, his football related responses to the media are usually pretty generic. He should be a team leader. I know he's the comedian, but it's good to see him that affected by a loss. Hopefully that will translate to some leadership from him and continued hard work.

I'm confused about "Praylow." Seems like the guy makes big plays when he serves as a backup. I remember him putting all kinds of nasty hits on the Dolphins especially, and I know he's made an impact other times. Then when he gets a big opportunity after ST goes out it's like things fell apart in the secondary.

What gives? The guy is a veteran too right.

Re: Bad news on Taylor (no MRI yet, though)--from JLC

Sean Taylor just sent me a private message on MYSPACE since we are tight like that. Actually he just posted it to his bulletin but here's what it says.

"As most of you all know i have a grade 2 knee sprain which hurts like hell when i walk but the most disappointing news i mabey out for the cowboys game and the bucs game depending on how well i get and the aproval of my doctors so just to let you all know i may not be playing for two weeks."

I think the grammar and spelling proves beyond doubt that this is really from Sean.
