i think synder just wants a coach he can control and dictate to, instead of one that would actually want to make sound decisions on free agents and trades.

Hmm.. that would be a young coordinator who hasn't been a head coach.

I wouldn't call this rebuilding. More like remodeling.

Matty and SmootSmack, I think you guys are right on with what you've said in this thread. You've tried to calm the masses, but it doesn't seem like its working (big surprise!).

Do you think there is someone lined up already? Just a couple options? Or are they still playing the entire field?

They have to have someone already. Otherwise they'd be gambling that either the Giants' DC or the Pats OC would be willing to sign on as HC with the coordinators already in place.

Not only that, do you think either one of those guys wants a built in staff or build their own? Sounds like they already made their choice and it's probably Fassel.

Naming Blache D-coordinator and this move are good signs toward maintaining continuity on the D. I was hoping that we could also retain Jerry Gray, but I can definitely see him following Williams to Jacksonville, assuming Williams lands there fairly quickly.

I still maintain that naming offensive and defensive coordinators before the head coach severely limits the head coaching options.

I would like to see Schwartz before Fassel.

If that's the case, that's going to be an interesting press conference. I say people should protest. LOL.

Interesting tidbit in JLC's latest blog. Says that the Titans have contacted the Skins for permission to talk to Williams. I can't imagine he'd go there to work under Schwartz would he?

Think it is between Fassel and Spagnolo though. I do feel better that at least they have told G. Williams he's out officially. Seems like maybe they could have done that a bit sooner, but better that both parties made a move (and maybe Williams initiated it).

Someone asked about the other assistants - Redskins Insider
UPDATE 1: Jason LaCanfora reports that the Rams and Raiders have asked the Redskins for permission to speak with Saunders about jobs and the Rams and Titans have asked for permission to speak to Williams about jobs, sources said. Apparently, teams still must do this because the two remain under contract.

There'd have to be a spot on the Jags' roster for Gray though, wouldn't there?

Is Matty Dan Snyder and Smootsmack Vinny Cerrato in disguise? Is it their responsiblity to calm the masses? Or are they getting paid by the skins to sell the company line? Just kind of weird that they always defend the Redskins moves.

Wait...isn't Schwartz the Def coord? If so why are the Titans asking about G Williams??
