Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

I can't make anything up this week, the Lions are that bad. Usually I try to find the strong spots of the opposing team and make a prediction based on their best outdoing our best. It just can't be done.

Orlovsky is no Jon Kitna. Rudi Johnson and Kevin Smith are averaging 4.3 yards/carry, but when you only average 78 yards/game, the Lions are running less than 20 times a game. They do have Calvin Johnson, but that isn't anything Springs or Rogers can't take care of. Their defense has more holes than swiss cheese, and teams are averaging 42% success on 3rd down. They have 1 interception in their soft secondary.

Portis can't help but get 100+. Rock and Alexander will get mop up duty. Campbell will find open receivers all day. And the defense will squash any hope the Lions have.

Skins 27
Lions 9

Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

I believe in this team, and can't see how they could mess it up(even with the last two weeks). I think Zorn tries to put it all together this week against an opponent that everything should work on. Bottom line score:

Skins 41 - 0 (i'm begging for the shutout)

with most of the work done in the first half.

Portis rushes for 182 yards giving him exactly 1,000 yards on the season!!!!

It won't be a blowout but the Skins will easily dominate the Kittens.

Skins - 27
Kittens - 17

CP will have a big game. JC will keep his streak alive. Jump out ahead early and rest some key players for the big Monday night game with Worthlessburger and the dude that looks like a chic with long hair.

Skins- 31
Lions- 9

Portis blazes for another 170 yard performance with 2 TDs
Campbell throws for 2 TDs and 250 yards and still does not throw a pick.
Horton gets another Pick!

Lions drive nicely a few times but our stingy red zone D holds them to 3 FGs.

Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

The Lions are the worst team in the nfl in every aspect. They are horrendous on both sides of the ball ranking dead last. On the year so far they have 85 first downs and are 19 for 72 on third down conversions. They have rushed for a whopping 466 yards while their opponents have rushed for 1005. Their total offense has amounted for 1590 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Redskins offense has totaled 2475 yards and 140 first downs. Their 0-6 for a reason. How can this game be close when our Defense stops them on third down ALL DAY LONG? Their punter will be exhausted by the end of this game.

Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

I think this game will be another epic fail for Detroit. I'm not looking past them, but we are simply a much better football team in every aspect.

Offense:
I think Portis goes for over 100 and 2 TDs. I think Campbell goes for 250+ and 2 TDs. Moss has a 100 yard game, Cooley has 75 yards and TD. Inevitably a few of our drives will stall, so I think Suisham hits a pair of FGs. Portis is pretty nicked up right now, so I'd like to us have this one in hand early and get him some rest after the 3rd qtr.

Defense:
Orlovsky may get benched by halftime for Drew Stanton. Either way, we've got some fresh meat at QB for the D to feast on. We better get some damn sacks this week. I think we're good for a pair of INTs. I could see Fletcher snagging one because our pressure is going to force some short, hurried passes. I think Carlos or Laron will come up with a pick as well with Orlovsky trying to force a few balls to a well covered Calvin Johnson. They might not get 50 yards rushing in this one.

In the end it will be a convincing win, 34-6 Redskins.

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if they score 17 points on us.

Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

Instead of Game Predictions, I'll make GameDay Thread predictions:

GMScud will have at least 5 posts in the GameDay Thread that are some variation of "I can't take this anymore" "Great, now we're screwed" "If we give up a first down here there goes the season" (all to be said on the first Lions drive).

Some troll will get permanently banned for promoting some site he "happened to stumble across" that features sports widgets

12thMan will ask what happened in the game because he didn't see it, but it looked like so and so had a big game based on the box score

Jamaican'Skin will try to keep a level head throughout with zen like statements such as "A jug fills drop by drop"

LOL!!! Good stuff SS.

I do get a little worked up early in games, you've got me there. Picture me screaming in my living room, and the only time I EVER am able to sit down during the 1st half is when I type a post on the Gameday Thread. That gives you an idea of why some of my posts look the way they do on Sundays.

Re: Redskins vs. Lions predictions

I try to avoid the board during games, at least the game thread. The chicken little mentality on every little thing that happens drives me nuts.
