Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I would agree w/ almost everything DCtoAZ said above. I live in Kentucky, and make it a point to watch every 'Skins game, so I know where he is coming from, and it was down right embarrassing to watch that display on TV.

Just as a side note, I was back in DC for a wedding this weekend, and the season ticket holding groom was trying like hell to give tickets to this game away at the rehearsal dinner, and almost nobody wanted them. He finally got rid of them to about the 20th person he asked.

I am not trying to let the people who sold their tickets to Steelers' fans off the hook, but I think a lot of this has to do with what a pain in the ass it is to get in and out of FedEx. When you couple this with a Monday night game, a lot of people simply do not want to get home at 1 or 2 am on a workday. Not saying it's a good excuse, but just throwing it out there as a possible explanation

Yeah it does but you don't see the colors becuase they will beat you and hurt you(really). This is happening everywhere .....it's economics ,if I can make enough by seeling off one game to pay for the seats then I'm going to do it.Games aren't cheap and many fans can't make night games....simple.

A lot of people from Pgh live in DC and could be Skins season tix holders rooting for the Skins except when the Steelers come to town (which isnt often).

I actually heard a NYG fan talking about the new stadium seating, to keep his seats(which he said were Good seats) would be almost $1800 per game, after everything was totalled and averaged, And you had to buy 2 seasons worth straight away. That is crazy!

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

You see it at night games more than anything. The people who can afford the season tix have to get up the next morning. Visiting fans make a vacation of the game and sleep in at their hotel the next morning.
I said several times during the game thread how embarrassing it was to see so many Steelers fans at the game. No, it wasn't why we lost. Really, though, losing to one of the best defenses of the past 15 years and falling to 6-3 isn't reason to be ashamed. The "fans" who sold their tix to anyone with a buck is shameful.
For the Cowboys game (a Sunday night game) I have a solution to the souless jerks and corporate a-holes who can't stay up past 9pm. Donate the tix. Either give them to a children's group, school or anywhere else where people who can't afford tix but are actually fans of the team would love to scream at the Cowboys. Then write off the "donation".

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I think the loss came at the hands of the offense and not the fans...even when we have a packed redskins fan base for other games the advantage is not huge...I have been told! Cause I a life long Redskins fans have never seen a game in Washington D.C. It just cost to damn much...(I lived in VA for some years!) There would be nothing better than to partake with my fellow fans and enjoy a Skins game but come on!!

Now I hear don't sell this to him or her...look! Don't know if you got the memo but we are in hard economic times and if they can sell there ticket then more power to them...

I was good enough to take advantage of this exact practice as I have recently bought tickets to the Redskins -vs-Bengals on Dec. 14 (Very Cheap!!!)

It has been a while since I have seen a live game...even longer since a Skins game. You can't have it both ways...so think about that the next time the Skins are on the road and there is a sea of Skins fans in the stadium of the opposing team...it happens often!

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

Pitt has some of the best traveling fans in the league. It's not a problem exclusive to FedEx, watch any Steelers away game and you'll see a ton of their fans. Give 'em credit. There's not much use in complaining about it, it just sounds like sour grapes.

Good idea!!! There are plenty of people who fit in this catagory.

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I think one of the main problems was the fact those stupid ass towels really get you noticed. I bet if ANY team that we played from the NFCE had those towels and waved them all the damn time, I'm sure we'd hear how "full the place was of ___________ team's fans".

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

I thought there would be a decent amount of Steelers fans at Fed Ex. I was suprised at how many though. We were 6-2, on MNF, at home, and people can't show up. It's pretty embarrassing. I was embarrassed. I can't remember seeing another game where the away team brought so many fans (Ariz v Dallas doesn't count...their Ariz). It was just a real bad night for the skins.

This has nothing to do w/ winning and losing the game.

Re: F... Selling Tickets to the Visiting Team

Lots of season ticket holders sell off tix to a game or two and use one of the various Internet ticket brokers as the intermidiary. Tickets sold through that kind of mechanism does not allow the seller to identify the rooting interest of the buyer. So if 10,000 tix to a game at FedEx go on the Internet and Steelers' fans hop on that opportunity quickly, there will be 10,000 Steelers' fans in Fed Ex for that game. The ticket sellers won't know until they turn on their TV sets...

Simple solution: All the folks here who are so offended about having all those Steelers' fans in FedEx need to go to places like Stub Hub and buy up all the tix to future Redskins games. That will put them in "friendly hands".

For the record, I had the opportunity to score two "premium" seats for last night's game but had to turn down the chance because I had commitments early this morning and I probably would not have been home before 2:00AM had I gone to the game. I have no idea who got to use those seats or what their "rooting affiliation" may have been.
