Cowher is like Marty Shoty except he has 2 SB appearances and 1 SB win. Not bad if you ask me. Certainly better than anything we have been for almost the last 20 years. I mean, when was the last time we won more than 10 games and not just barely manged to get into the playoffs?

Brian Billick won a Super Bowl but that doesn't mean I think he's a great coach.

He may not be a great coach but if the objective is to win a SB and he has 1 he can't possibly be a bad coach. Granted, I wouldn't hire him but I wouldn't fault anyone else for hiring him nor would I go after Cowher. I'm not interested in lame duck coaches, plus I like Zorn and I would like to give him more time to see what he can do.

Oh I don't think Cowher is a bad coach, I think he is a good coach. I just don't think he's the "come in turn everything around and win a Super Bowl right away" guy a lot of people seem to think he is. At least that's the impression I get. Most coaches aren't even given the amount of time to win a Super Bowl Cowher was given in Pittsburgh. Marty went what, 14-2 in San Diego and was let go the next year. Gibbs won the Super Bowl in his second year and won 3 in 12 years where Bill did'nt win one until his 14th year. I think he's more like Marty than Gibbs or Walsh or someone like that. Which is to be expected since he was a pupil of Marty's. Not that being like Marty is bad. If you're satisfied with a winning record and have patience, he's your man. He turned Pittsburgh around quickly in the win column when he got there and he'll probably do it again at his next stop but winning a Super Bowl, in and of itself, doesn't necessarily make you a great coach or guarantee you'll do it again. That's all I'm saying. Look at Barry Switzer. Just like you, I'm not really into lameduck coaches or retreads, Gibbs was an exception, we needed some hope and remembrance of what we once were at the time, and I'd like to give Zorn a chance to see what he can do.

Like the NFL network said....the best possible cenario is going to the Lions. I know, I know they suck every year but you can't do worse then 0-16 so even if you won one game you turned the team around. lol. Personell wise I would probably pick the Jets. As much as everyone says Cowher has a friend in Cleveland I doubt he would go to a rival steel team town of Pittsburg only cause he doesn't want to piss of Pitt nation.

Besides he flat out turned down the Browns owner.

AL(INDY): Are the Redskins doomed to mediocricy?Tough division,owner who doesn't know the football world well enough to spend his money wisely,mid round draft choices,Portis and Moss getting old and injury prone?

But I do think the franchise needs to make better decisions. They finally stopped free-wheeling in the free agency and then they went out and drafted three BUSTERS in the second round. Maybe those guys will pan out, but right now it's not looking good.

SportsNation Matt Mosley: (12:55 PM ET ) They better address that offensive line. Samuels is good, but he's not getting any younger. You have an aging Pete Kendall at left guard and an aging and broken down Jansen at right tackle. You better address the offensive line in a hurry. And you might want to see if you can get Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly ready to go for next season.

If anybody caught Howie Long's potential hc list here it is: It's pretty good, imo.

Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan: He has a proven track record and his father’s (former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan) passion. At 46-years-old, he could be a coach for a long time.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels: He’s 32-years-old and just one year removed from overseeing the most prolific offense in NFL history.

Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz: Talk about blueprints, he’s been with head coach Jeff Fisher for eight years and if that isn’t enough, he’s spent another four years with Bill Belichick.

Dolphins defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni: He had a front row seat on one of the NFL’s most-historic turnarounds. Both Sparano and Bill Parcells swear by him.

Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo: Spagnuolo turned down an opportunity to be a head coach last year to come back and win another ring with the Giants.

Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier: Frazier took over for Mike Tomlin with very little drop off.
