Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
Sorry just a little more before I go to sleep.
You shouldn't compare Americans to the Chinese. We don't eat dogs but we also don't drown our daughters. It's their thing, so be it. I'm not here to pass judegment on other cultures just Michael Vick and his brother. I'm sorry I can't seperate the two. I like Tech and they bent over backwards for those two, especially Marcus, and got nothing but a kick in the groin in return. Slaughter-houses and hunters try to kill at the first pop so not to cause suffering, so do the Marines. If you don't eat meat then so be it. That's not the point. Could you imagine some hunter trying to hold a deer's head in a bucket of water with the antlers? HA HA HA HA or a cow HA HA HA! Ivan the terrible started with dogs. By the time he was Czar he was putting serfs on pikes. No, Vick isn't Joe Stalin or Hitler but he is a sadist, and a dumb one at that. Nothing is wrong with Deion besides his big mouth. I don't like big mouth Cowboys coming over to Washington. If y'all have read any of my posts you'd see that I want the Skins to build the team through the draft. I've got my fingers crossed for Duke or Everrett. T.O is just arrogant and hasn't a grip on his emotions. Pac Man got a bad wrap on the gun charge. Everyone in Richmond has a house full of guns. Beating up your body guard in a drunken brawl when you're on probation is just stupid. I'd take them over Vick hands down. Yes I know this isn't a perfect world. I forget the name of the Redskin SB running back who went to the pen for coke. I hear ole Joe Theisman was a drunk for a long time. Perhaps someone called Vick's mama a ho and that's why he flicked em off. I'm a reasonable man. No, these guys aren't perfect. No one is. But let me make this point. We've got guys coming home from war (regardless how you feel about the war) in body bags, missing limbs, missing eyes and faces, with memories that never go away. Do they make a million dollars a year, no! Half the time they don't even get a thank you. Do school teachers make a million dollars? No. If you paid me a million dollars I'd go out there and hit people like they owed me money, smile, and shut my mouth. Night clubs, dog fighting, dope, man hell no! So forgive me if I get a little upset about people suggesting that we sign Vick. I'm not painting with a broad brush, just the VICK family. I feel sorry for his Daddy. He told Michael to cut that s**t out before he went to Tech. Did dingus listen? Here's another question. Do you think Joe Gibbs would play Vick? I somehow doubt it. When I heard that Romo helped some old ladies and took some homeless people to the movies I was happy for him and the Cowboys orginization. When I see ARE and some of the other guys go out into Washington and try to help people, that's when I'm the most proud to be a Redskin. They might not be the best football players but I'm proud of them when I hear that. And now I will shut my mouth. |

Q: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
A: NO, and granted I live in Atlanta then I feel I have final say in the matter.

What you didn't capture is any semblance of rational. I like dogs as much as the next guy, maybe not as much as you and your dog with teriyaki sauce, but the next time an unsupervised canine mauls a child to death be sure to stick up for the dog. A dog in that situation would be put down even though they are just instinctually an animal. I don't agree with putting them down but our legal code says so. I know that lots of us have strong bonds between our domesticated animals. People consider animals to be human and are very close to their pet. Some are even closer, like you with your dog and the teriyaki sauce, but there is a delineation there. Vick didn't cross it, you might be with teriyaki sauce...but what you do behind closed doors is your business. Vick didn't kill a multitude of human beings or the State and Federal penal systems would never allow him to integrate with soceity. He's getting out soon which means they don't consider animals in the same class as humans. Being that we consume various types of animal meat that's probably not a stretch. Look, I think what he did is reprehensible. I don't like having to stick up for Vick but I think you are in the wrong here. He is young and a human of free will, who in time has the same chance for redemption on his mistakes as you would have if you did something foolish at that age.

Trample may write a little crazy but he's basically right on on this. If you read the details of what went down within Vick's operation, it wasn't just fighting (which is of course a serious federal crime) it was systematic torture. Dogs had their teeth pulled out with pliers, one by one. They were beaten, shot, shocked, drowned, and garroted for losing. I make no claims to know the composition of Michael's soul, and I do believe in redemption. But I will be very disappointed if in this world, in this life, he has not forfeited at the very least his right to wear the Burgundy and Gold. |

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
How many people that wouldn't accept Vick on the Redskins eat cows, pigs, chickens and such? You have any idea how cruel and inhumane commercial meat plants are? I do not agree with or condone what Vick did or was involved in. As far as wanting or needing him on the Redskins, there is really no gain for any possible negativity that'd insue. Other teams, perhaps more desperate ones might take a chance on Vick.

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
Aside from Vick's off field problems, what position would he play? Not QB, Matt Ryan has shown what a pro style QB can do in ATL and the Skins already have an inaccurate passer at QB, not WR, they already have an ARE and we dont need more, not RB, again we have better ones tha Vick could become. I just dont see how Vick could fit in on this team. Besides, he just not worth the PR risk. There's plenty of other fish in the sea and this stinky fish's time has passed.

Sign Vick, run the "wildcat", eat hamburgers at half-time.

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
I figured this tone of response, but am kinda surprised at the lack of on field impact people think Vick will have. Like him as a QB or not, his playmaking ability was undeniable. It would be hard MERELY FROM A FOOTBALL VIEW to not acknowledge the benefit he will bring to whomever he signs with, especially as a Slash/Wildcat/Athlete specialist.
To the morality police, would you accept Leonard Little if the Redskins traded for or signed him as a free agent?

Re: Would you accept Michael Vick on the Redskins?
I'm a Hokie & watched Vick come into his own at Lane Stadium. I WANT to believe there's a good person somewhere in him. He seemed humble at VT, but part of that was likely his ineptitude in public speaking & the fact that stardom was just starting to hit him.
I am rooting for him & by that I mean I truly hope he learns magnitude of his crimes. I hope he can salvage something of his career & actually apologize on national tv in one of the pregame shows. That said, if mgmt. determines Vick is a changed man & can help the team, I'd be for it. I would seriously hope that Vinny & Danny would take extra precautions & do extensive research on his recent past before even thinking of it (scouting of free agents has been problematic at times). As for his football ability, I don't see how anyone can say we don't need a guy w/his ability, his baggage aside. Based solely on his ability, he could return punts, maybe play a little wr, run the wildcat & serve as emergency qb. Unless he's totally let his body go, he could definitely help what is right now a lackluster offense & punt return team. |

Absolutely NOT and if he were on the team, he better NOT wear #7.

He hasn't even played for several years (well, when and if he ever gets back to some unfortunate team)...so who is to say he can still perform to the level he even did before?
