In all likelyhood, we will attempt to trade back multiple times unless there is a specific player in the top 20 we are targeting. I think our goal is to accumulate as many 2nd and 3rd round picks as we can. Beyond that, the draft is a total crap shoot. Youre not looking for 1st year starter, so think theres much difference than a 4th round pick and a 7th round pick IMO. The big thing becomes not what a player did in college, but how coachable he is. The future of players taken in rounds 4-7 is more dependant on the quality of the teams coaching staff than anything else. Of course, there are always exceptions, but i think its a rule that generally proves true.

Maybe if the chances of a deep playoff appearance existed I'd think there would be a chance. In this case though, I'd say the Pesci "F- You, Pay Me!" line would apply. And for a team that doesn't look to be too competitive in the coming year...on the basis that the consensus is we almost need a whole new OL & DL which is more than 10 positions, at the least it's 6 positions which is still a lot to fill in one year. I think that is a reason that Portis is so miffed. Saying we need get help on OL & DL is pretty much saying that you are rebuilding. Portis is close to his peak, in front or behind, and his career can't afford a rebuilding effort.

Re: RI: What Moves Will Offseason Bring?
Well it's obvious that we don't need to go after any Wide Receivers and Tight Ends. I hope to God Vinny doesn't waste another draft pick on a punter or kicker. Get one of those on the FA market.
If Vinny doesn't address the O & D lines then next year will be yet another wasted season. Also getting a LB somewhere in the middle rounds is probably a must. If they can re-sign Taylor for a lot less money, then I'd let Washington go and use Taylor as a roving LB. Remember, we have The Little Danny and Vinny running the Circus so anything can happen with these two clowns.

Re: RI: What Moves Will Offseason Bring?
Taylor has a contract. He's not restructuring. Why should he? To help his team? Why doesn't everyone on the team take a cut? Makes no sense. Hes a business man as well He comes out this season 100% and he will make a impact. But I don't see him risking injury for a 8-8 team. So not sure if he will give 100% unless he sees a post season brewing. I think it's up to the FO to find a way around the financials and still fill in the gaps with strategic drafts and FA. Not Taylors job or financial responsability.
And is anyone else getting tired of the Danny Vinny comments? Things are frustrating enough. Can't trade Dan or Vinny let's move on. I agree with Smoot on the restructure statement |

Re: RI: What Moves Will Offseason Bring?
the only motivation for a player like Taylor to restructure is if he still wants to play football and realizes that NO ONE will pay him the money that he is currently due on his contract. If Taylor felt like the redskins would cut him, and no one else would want him (or pay him what we were offereing), then its to his advantage to take a paycut and stay. Otherwise, he could hit the free market, and his value would only go down.

1) because of the value they placed on him and what they gave up to get him 2) because he was injured it delayed there true assesment of their investment Tuff call. |

If the skins did what they SHOULD do, Cerrato would have been fired and we would have hired a real GM a long, long time ago.

neither of the DEs did alot this year, but If we had taken either of them, we could have helped ourself a ton since we likely wouldnt have felt pressured to trade this years 2nd and next years 6th to Miami for Jason Taylor when Daniels got hurt. If we had taken Pollak... man oh man that burns me every time i think about it. The dude started 13 games for the Colts this year... the colts gave up less than 1 sack per game, and the OL was comprised mostly of backups due to injury... incredibly impressive. Oh well, i'll stop whining. woulda coulda shoulda

Re: RI: What Moves Will Offseason Bring?
JLC'S comments re Los are pissing me off. He's not backing them up w/ anything, especially some kind of logic for the trade. First off, talk about horrible value. We spend a 9th overall pick and dump the guy for a 2nd rounder after a strong come-back season... stupid. And what will we do at corner? It would be unforgivably irresponsible for Blache to count on Springs for a full season, and w/o Rogers we at best have Springs/Hall starting w/ Smoot as a nickel and probably still find it necessary to draft/sign someone. Besides, if Springs gets to stay the indicators are he'll transition to safety, making Horton somewhat expendable and we could get excellent value for him w/ just a 3rd round pick say. In other words, Los/Hall start at CB and Springs/Landry at FS/SS with Moore/Doughty backup. That is a very potent secondary - all young guys save for Springs who hopefully will be less injury prove at centerfield. The more I think about the Los trade the more pissed I am. Trading Moss or Horton over Los makes better sense IMHO. Can someone shine some light on the inside story here because I must be missing something?
