Re: Steelers vs. Cardinals: Best Super Bowl Ever

Personally I think it was one of the best played Super Bowls. Maybe I was watching a different game, but that game sure as hell wasn't boring.

The officiating was what it was. I don't think it determined the outcome of the game, so no problem there. As far as S. Holmes, that will go down as one of the greatest/clutch catches in Super Bowl history. And how about Darnell Dockett?

A ton of great individual performances, great play calling, and awesome team effort on both sides places this one at the top for me.

Darnell Dockett has prison muscles. That's the only way to describe that beast.

Re: Steelers vs. Cardinals: Best Super Bowl Ever

I've been watching the NFL since '77 (damn I'm old) and that was the best SB I've seen. I thought it was over when Fitz caught his TD to be honest. If they didn't rule that last play a fumble, I'm not sure the Cards don't get a very good shot at the end zone. Anyone who criticizes either team's play from yesterday was watching a different game than me.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Not sure if I would say it was the best SB ever, I think the dust needs to settle on it a bit to gain some perspective. It was a ho-hum game for a while but the end was very exciting. I thought the Cards were going to steal it.

Is it just me but I am starting to think the NFL is a little bit fixed. So many "crazy" games of late. There was a time where the Super Bowl was just a blow out now every year it is an amazing finish.

The penalities really did make a differnce in this game and the booth reviews.

At one point I was just waiting for Big Ben to come out and hit Kurt on the head with a metal chair when the refs were not looking. NFL=WWE

Been watching the Super Bowl sinc XVII and this ranks as one of the best (taking away the 3 Skins wins of course). My favorite of all time is still the Rams vs Titans. But this was a great game, reminded me of the Pats vs Panthers where it's an enjoyable game but then totally took off in the 4th quarter.

The game was decent and the final 5 minutes were exciting but I never could shake the fact that the Arizona Cardinals were representing the NFC. One of the reasons I hate parity is the Super Bowl is no longer a game of the two best in their divisions. I think this would have been a great Monday Night Football game. Not a great Super Bowl, though.

That's just incorrect.

If not for that pick 6, they just may have.

I was also wondering why the corner went for the ball instead of trying to push Santonio Holmes out of bounds...stupid.

As for the game overall, I'll agree w/Mike Golic who said it was a great 4th quarter but there was some sloppy play prior to that.

Calls were big, I thought the personal foul on Dansby was bogus & yet Warner took several hits that were just as 'late.' But I think they at least called the holding well, and they got Pitt for it in the end zone. Fitzgerald got held a lot.

His right foot was kinda tucked behind the left one and it was really hard to tell if it touched the ground or not. Either way it was too close to overturn. Great catch by Holmes.

I thought that holding call was too close to call in that situation. The Steeler lineman was pancaked and I didnt think he was holding because he was busy getting knocked on his azz. IMO, that was the biggest call of the game as it gave AZ the ball back for their taking the lead drive when it looked like Pgh was going to start a drive of their own.

Re: Steelers vs. Cardinals: Best Super Bowl Ever

I really don't think the officiating decided this one and definately don't think the fix was in or anything, but I feel confident in saying that there was a different standard for late hit on quarterback with the Cardinals than the Steelers, and that's sort of the way it's been all year in Steeler games.

I don't believe in giveback calls, so let's just treat the Dansby call as what it was: an awful call on a drive that ended at the two yard line anyway, and move on.

Re: Steelers vs. Cardinals: Best Super Bowl Ever

It was a top five super bowl ever, and it had more game changing plays than last year, but I'm not going to be calling it the greatest SB ever. It didn't beat last year as a game.

Re: Steelers vs. Cardinals: Best Super Bowl Ever

Last years still blows this one away in my opinion, and to be honest, I didnt watch (attentivley) most of the first 3 quarters because I was just talking and doing whatever...but that was one hell of an ending.
